Superman's death so early on was completely pointless and just another forced in plot point to a film that had way too much going on. Coulson's death at least felt like it served some purpose when it happened. Granted it's a cop out too given he came back but I do think it served its purpose.
Marvel and DC have different approaches which is fine but the problem with DC is their films just haven't been that great to date. It's not being a hater either it's just been a series of disappointments thus far. I don't think Marvel is kiddie either. There's a more lighthearted tone but I think there's a good balance overall.

Coulson coming back doesn't matter because Marvel TV doesn't matter. Marvel TV is like fan fiction written around the films.

I was never really for sure on how that works. I haven't watched it but from my understanding doesn't Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D tie into some of the MCU films?

Agents of SHIELD generally has tie in episodes for each of the Marvel films that are released during its run, but it's mainly just them reacting to the events of the movies.
The only exception I can think of is when the tie in to Age of Ultron was that somehow Coulson got them the hellicarrier that they needed at the end, but it still felt like something that was written around the movie, rather than something that actually mattered to the plot of the film.
If Phil Coulson ever appears in another Marvel film in anything other than a flashback to events prior to his death, I will eat my hat.

The mass destruction scenes are just overkill (literally!), same criticism with Avengers 2.

The only time I felt like destruction in a superhero film was too excessive was Man of Steel. I actually liked the film until the end where it just turns into disaster porn.

That said....I'm hearing The Flash will be the one doing the heavy lifting to lighten up the tone. Who knows...

I have never ever like Cyborg's design out side of the Teen Titans cartoon. I've always felt he should be more human with minimal cybernetic appliances on him. i.e. a souped up version of 7 of 9 after the Borg.
That said, since this version is Alien Tech based I think his look kinda makes sense.

Source: THE BATMAN Has Been Pushed Back
Posted by: Bill "Jett" Ramey (Follow @BATMANONFILM )
Date: January 9, 2017
THE BATMAN was set to start filming this spring. Both Jeremy Irons who will play Alfred Pennyworth – and Joe Manganiello who will play the villain Deathstroke – have said so. Even Ben Affleck himself said last month that it was the plan to go in front of the camera early in 2017.
Apparently, the brakes on the Batmobile have been tapped.
According to a longtime BOF source, THE BATMAN has been “pushed back.” How long? “A couple of months” I was told. If this is indeed the case, it means that THE BATMAN won’t start filming until mid-Summer at the earlier. Thus, a July 2018 release now will be in question as will a release in 2018 period.
So, why the delay? I really don’t know, but I’ll speculate
Perhaps the script really isn’t ready as Ben Affleck has been saying and the studio is giving director/screenwriter Affleck the proper amount of time to get it right.
Maybe Ben doesn’t want to direct it, but will still write, produce and star in it. As a result, they need time to hire a new director.
Or – and this would be the worst case scenario – perhaps Affleck knows that JUSTICE LEAGUE is going to suck (I'm hearing it's a mess -- I hope it's not!) and is ready to bail on the DCEU before he gets GIGLY ed (again) by it.
Look, I hope (i.e. desparately want) that Ben Affleck directs THE BATMAN , so here’s hoping the reason behind this alleged delay in production the first hypothetical I proposed above. But, something’s up with THE BATMAN , no doubt about it. Could this be why Affleck's comments about THE BATMAN suddenly changed here recently ? I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit worried, but I'll remain optimistic (because I really want this to happen).
Stay tuned folks because this is fixin’ to get interesting methinks.

Good. If pushing it back makes for a better film I'm good with that.

I think if this film is another Batman V Superman the current DC extended universe is basically screwed. Truthfully I wouldn't be too upset if it didn't do well so they could start from scratch or just go back to making solo non-connected films.

Which would have fit in perfectly with Captain America: Civil War. Just drop a couple of mentions about all of the "Inhumans" or SPBs that now popping up all over, and it all fits together nicely.

If Justice League really is a mess, WB has no one to blame but themselves. Zack Snyder is WOEFULLY the wrong guy to shape their cinematic universe. For whatever reason they can't or won't get rid of him. They could have cut their losses after MOS, but two movies later the damage is irreparable. They need to start from scratch. Again.

There's rumors that Justice League is a mess? You don't say...
I'm surprised anybody is still surprised by this after the last 2 DC movies.

According to Movie Web, Sasha Perl-Raver, host of the Schmoes Know show, reportedly talked to someone with insider info about the movie. This is what she said: “So, I don't want to throw anyone under the bus. We have somebody within our community who has gotten insider information that broke my [effing] heart this week, because I have tremendous belief that ‘Wonder Woman’ is gonna be awesome and I heard it stinks from the same person who told me that they heard that 'BvS' stinks.”
The person she spoke to told her, “I'm very disappointed in what I saw, and it seems like all the problems are the same problems. It's discombobulated, it doesn't have narrative flow. It's just very disjointed.”

If DC goes four for four with Wonder Woman being poorly received they're going to kill a lot of hype for Justice League. I truly believe that if Justice League recieves bad reception once it's out that it could spell the end of the current universe they've been building as that should essentially be what's at the center tying everything together and people not liking it wouldn't be a good thing. How they can continue to make poor films after they've flopped three times is beyond me. Decisions like keeping Zack Snyder on board for this film and letting David Goyer write and executive produce future films show me that either they don't get it or they don't care and are just trying to ride the money train until it runs out and people stop turning up to see the DC films. I don't want them to fail but the current universe needs a drastic course correction and I don't really know that that's what's happening given some of the rumors floating around about their upcoming films.

At least WW has Gal Gadot running around kicking ass. I'll go at least once just for that.
