Robotech/Macross would probably be easy to adapt. Military themed, giant aliens, strong character list, giant mechs .... they'd fuck it up.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was originally a comic book before it became a cartoon, and the 1990 movie is closer in tone to the comic than the cartoon. The sequel was more like the cartoon.

The fact that someone in Hollywood saw all the anticipation and excitement for a Voltron movie when the teasers came out for Cloverfield and still haven't made it into a movie is beyond me. That's just leaving money on the table.
