For some reason I thought Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was coming out this Friday so I logged into Fandango last night to use my gift card to buy advance tickets confident that I was buying early enough to get a good seat for the Cinemark XD Saturday morning showing and doh...it is Incredibles 2 that is coming out on Friday. I went ahead and bought a ticket anyway as I am psyched to see this in theaters.
I should still buy a JW ticket today or tomorrow as that film will also be a box office beast.
I never did get around to getting the first film on blu so hopefully I can skip a generation and grab this on 4K when the inevitable set comes out later this year. I have seen the original again on cable fairly recently so I am primed to see this film.

It was good. Not as good as the original of course. Plot and "twist" was predictable. Screenslaver was a cool idea. Clever name.
The way Bird directs the action in this is pretty amazing. I almost forgot I was watching an animated movie.

Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 took off last night with $18.5M, easily sinking the previous $9.2M Thursday night record for an animated movie held by Finding Dory. That Pixar sequel also holds the opening record for an animated title with $135M, $54.7M of that scored on Friday, and Incredibles 2 is now certain to beat that. On the high-end of projections, industry sources expected this pic to hit $150M, while lowball estimates were in the mid $130M range.

Happy that I bought my ticket on Monday, I just need to get a good nights sleep so I do not yawn that much during the 09:30 am showing (getting up before 09:30 am on a Saturday is early for me).

We went and saw it this morning. Thought it was pretty good. I hope my 3 year old son didn't disturb others too much when he was yelling at me to wake up when I dozed off during part of the movie. My 15 year old thought the movie and that was funny.

Caught this today, and thought it was better than the first one. Then again, that could stem from the fact that I haven't watched the first one since it's original release. I thought it was cool that they had the cast and director come on and acknowledge that fact before the movie started.
I hope Disney takes a look at this and lets Brad Bird have an MCU movie. Back when the first one was released I felt he had a grasp on the whole superhero genre better than others, and it's evident he still does.

Agree 100% I don't typically find myself getting to entrenched in action sequences in animated movies (possible exceptions being anime), but this one was exceptional.
