Mr Peabody & Sherman (2014)

Mr. Peabody & Sherman
Dreamworks / Fox
Director: Rob Minkoff
Voice Cast: Ty Burrell, Max Charles, Stephen Colbert

"The time-travelling adventures of an advanced canine and his adopted son, as they endeavor to fix a time rift they created."

~

I must admit I hate starting a thread for a movie and then having to negatively criticize it ... but...

I thought the story and humor really never gel'ed and what humor there was, just fell flat. It was as if, the screenwriters and animators were both working together at the same time - which is not a positive "thing".

I didn't see this in 3D - so I can't comment on that technical aspect. The animation on the whole though was ok.

This was also my first film to hear this mixed in Barco's 11.1 'Auro' surround sound system - and well, that too didn't impress me either (sorry but Dolby Atmos is the winner between the two).

...

thoughts, comments?

Not worth creating a thread for. Movie was a complete dud. It's quite telling when you're in a theater full of kids and they aren't even laughing at the awful jokes.

the ONLY joke I audibly laughed at was 'The Brief History of Lunch' lunchbox visual gag.

That mediocre? The reviews have been pretty positive so I was planning on seeing it this weekend.

I kind of had a feeling this would be a dud based on the previews... unfortunately I'm taking my kids and some friends to this tomorrow for my son's 6th b-day. I guess I'll get a good nap.

Re: Mr Peabody & Sherman (2014)

Finally watched this last night and while some parts were cute, it was kind of boring. Penny was just unlikeable the whole time, so I didn't care about Peabody and Sherman trying to save her and I didn't care for the fairly predictable character of an evil woman having something against Peabody adopting Sherman. Seems like they had no idea what kind of story they wanted to tell.
