I do not doubt that Paulette Goddard is beautiful but in that picture she is playing the role of a half-breed Indian and is made up to look like one which makes her look even sexier.

Honestly, Hollywood has seemingly moved away from casting actual models in their roles. The further back in time you go, there seemed to be a lot more actresses cast purely for their looks. Today you are much more likely to get an actress that has established a brand for herself in another venue, such as ethnic markets or in music.
