Movies that could be adapted into great TV shows

Since Hannibal and Constantine are shows now and M*A*S*H is considered one of the best shows of all time.

"1408" - A Twilight Zone type series, every episode someone new checks in. Would be cool for Netflix or Showtime.

"Silverado" - Always liked the movie thought it would make a decent show.

How about Blade Runner. Deckard's weekly adventures of tracking and hunting rogue replicants.

Re: Movies that could be adapted into great TV shows

I wished The Station Agent had been a pilot for a series. The characters were so engaging and the movie was so plotless that the movie just felt like it stopped instead of ended. Would liked to have followed those same characters in that town in a TV series.

The time for it has passed, but in the latter half of the 90s, you could have done a crime anthology series under the title Pulp Fiction. Each hour long episode would be done in the style of Freddy's Nightmares in that each episode had two stories with a crossover link to one another.

And since it already had the look of a cheap, produced in Canada, sci-fi shlock down, they might as well have done a series based on eXistenz.

The Negotiator - Different hostage situation every week
Fast and Furious - an elite group of car enthusiast travel around the country selling their talents to the biggest bidder, all while dodging a special task force tracking them.

Parts of Fast 6 felt like a shortened tv show.

DJANGO UNCHAINED. The Waltz and Fox characters travel the south freeing slaves and taking down oppressive slave owners and doing the bounty hunter thing. (In fact, there was a show somewhat similar back in the late '60s: "The Outcasts," with Don Murray and Otis Young, set after the Civil War, that I believe was one of Tarantino's inspirations.)

Technically Star Trek as a TV show adapted into a movie.

Yes, yes, YES!!! (Only not in a Meg Ryan way )

Great to see someone else who knows the show. It's not a masterpiece, but it was somewhat "edgy" in its day. Didn't shy away from the offensive word, the two protagonists hated each others' guts (at least at first), kind of a "The Defiant Ones" set in the West. The two leads aligned themselves out of necessity in true mercenary style: one was a former slave and his partner was a former slave-owner. Lots of head-butting, contempt for each other, etc. Pretty bold back then in pre-PC days.

Murray & Otis were both very well-cast. Sad that westerns were dying out due to a glut and the public reaction to gun violence, political assassinations, war, etc.

I'd watch an Inception show on any network with any cast

How about Marvel's The Avengers? Just remove all of the characters people love, and replace them with generic agents and watch the money flow in.

The Canadian show "Total Recall 2070" from 1999 was similar to that. I thought it was pretty good, but it only lasted one season.

Judging by the ratings, I'd say that the money might not flow much longer.

Not thinking that anything that overtly political will be picked up by any network.

Akira. Reading the comic makes the movie easier to understand, but it also highlights how sloppily written the movie is.

This subject has come up a few times. I still would like to see a TV version of the Nicholas Cage movie Next about a clairvoyant that can see 2 minutes into the future.

I think The Lost Room pretty much demanded a followup that nobody ever cared enough to make. I hated that they left so many unanswered questions.

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. All girl rock band moves to LA and is sucked into the seedy underbelly of sex, drugs and fame.
