Get Hard (2015, D: Etan Cohen) S: Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart

Can't wait for the jokes about the title.

Warner Bros is negotiating to acquire Get Hard, a comedy pitch package that will be developed as a star vehicle for Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. The plan is for Ferrell to play a rich, soft-handed investment bank manager who is sentenced to a maximum security prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He hires the streetwise guy who normally washes his car to get him ready to do hard time in the 30 days before he has to report to prison.

The script will be written by Ian Roberts & Jay Martel, who are currently executive producers and showrunners on Comedy Central’s Key & Peele. Gary Sanchez is attached to produce.

I'm sure it was entirely unintentional, and the producers aren't prepared for what's coming.

I feel like I've already essentially seen this movie: Let's Go to Prison.

I think it would be funnier of Ferrell was the streetwise guy.

This! He could reprise his role of Gator. I'm already growing tired of hearing that Kevin Hart is the "funniest man in America."

Kevin Hart really isn't that good of a standup. The first season of Husbands of Hollywood was lol but his other stuff is just meh.

Warner Bros has slotted the Etan Cohen-directed comedy Get Hard for March 27, 2015. Will Ferrell stars as a rich, soft-handed investment bank manager who is sentenced to a maximum security prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He hires the streetwise guy who normally washes his car to get him ready to do hard time in the 30 days before he has to report. Kevin Hart co-stars.

If it's from the showrunners of Key & Peele then I am at least curious.

Sounds like a re-tread of a Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor comedy.

Apparently there was a sex columnist name Christ Gethard. I'm so immature that I fin that amusing.

I really can't stand Kevin Hart but I guess I have to accept the fact that Hollywood is going to continue to shove him down our throats.

I think this looks okay, I like Kevin Hart and Ferrell seems decent in this going off the previews. I might check it out this weekend sometime.

For a second there I read the director as Ethan Coen, not Etan Cohen.

Yeah, Bill Murray made a mistake like that once, and now has two Garfield movies to show for it.

I'm finding him more tolerable these days, although I still think Chris Tucker should sue for copyright infringement.

Given that Alison Brie is in it, I thought we'd be hearing nothing but jokes about the title.

I loved Big Stan (which I only rented out of curiosity after David Carradine died).

Re: Get Hard (2015, D: Etan Cohen) S: Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart

Saw a matinee today. I liked it. It was pretty funny, but predictable as most comedies are. The premise is ridiculous & thin because it's playing off stereotypes of corporate white collar people & people from urban cities. Ferrell is super over the top at times which is his schtick. But he and Hart played well off each other. I got some good laughs from their scenes together.

Seeing Alison Brie is lingerie, tiny little tennis dress and a tiny little golf skirt. She played Ferrell's fiance and honestly they were a really odd couple.

I'd give it a B, but comedies don't really have much replay value for me since the jokes usually don't work for me a 2nd time. I think seeing this once was enough.
