Was at the midnight premiere at TIFF as well and it was incredible. The movie is hilarious, heartfelt and charming. The whole evening with the cast and Q&A was a blast. Both Franco's do a great job in the film but James truly transforms into Tommy. Fans of the book and "The Room" will be extremely pleased.

Incidentally, it's also worth noting that the movie is filled with well-chosen cameos, and there's an amusing scene after the closing credits.

As of Monday, DA was listed as opening this weekend in several theaters in my area, consistent with a wide release -which surprised me a little. However, on Tuesday night, when most theaters around here "firm up" their weekend schedules, it was dropped from most of those venues and is getting just a small "art house" opening.

Given the names attached and it being touted as Oscar bait I thought it might get a wider release. Here in town only the AMC theaters, one local theater, and the Alamo are showing it.

Regal has a double bill with The Room but The Disaster Artist is the first movie. That seems backwards to me. I'd prefer to see the first movie first.

People are paying to see the new. I'm guessing they expect quite a few people to leave and not stay for The Room. Also, there are probably many people who wouldn't go if they had to sit through The Room first.

I haven't seen it yet, but one of my Facebook friends has and he didn't see The Room first and he said he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sounds like the corporate mindset. I would a lot of people that are curious about TDA never saw The Room. And Regal has done stupid stuff on other occasions, so this is no surprise.

Hopefully, they'll release both movies on home video in one package.
