I'm willing to bet it gets some repeat watches from people all around.
After watching and talking about it, there may be things that some missed or just want to pay attention more. I wont go again but I know this is a BD purchase for sure and I know that will bring in some serious money especially if it includes a longer cut.

Sure it does. What opens this weekend? American Ultra, Sinister 2, and there was one more.

Yes. It got applause at the end of my showing and an overall A Cinemascore. My prediction: $160-170mill domestic, add another $10-$20mill from overseas. So yeah, it's a big hit and we can expect more hip-hop biopics. I'm sure there'll be a casting call out soon for young actors who resemble Raekwon, the RZA, Method Man, U-God, etc.

I'd go with a film about Ice-T and the Cop Killer controversy myself, or maybe a Public Enemy film directed by Spike Lee.

And of course we can expect Will Smith to produce his own biopic with Jaden playing him, and then the genre will reach its nadir with a movie about Vanilla Ice.

Just read Dee Barnes' take on the movie and was somewhat surprised-but-not to find out Dre beat up Tairrie B too. At the Grammys, yet.

I saw it yesterday to a packed house, I thought it was great, it could've been 3 hours long and I don't think anyone would've minded. It was crazy how much each actor looked or sounded like who they were portraying, except for Ren.

Does anyone know if a longer version will be included on the bluray? I really hope so as I think it could help the problems every review has stated. Plus there are plenty of scenes in the trailers that I am pretty sure weren't in the movie.

I don't remember Easy with the machine gun in the parking lot, and Giamatti telling him, " What the hell are you doing ? ", being in the movie.

I also recall a secene with two girls blowing smoke into each other's mouths that I did not see in the movie. I would love to see a longer version as well.

Re: STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON (NWA Biopic) - 2015 D: F. Gary Gray

Saw this tonight and overall I enjoyed it even if there were some issues. Without even knowing most of the actual history, I could tell that this thing was white washed to a degree. They also tried to cover way too much ground and I'd agree with others that the film loses quite a bit of steam in the final act. I also thought the acting was a little sub-par at times. Ice Cube's kid looks and sounds exactly like him, but absolutely does not have his dad's presence at all. Still, it was an entertaining slice of something a little different. It was nice to see a major studio film about black people that isn't just pandering to a black audience. I would like to think that this movie's success will give studios reason to be a little more diverse in their fare, but I'm sure it just means we'll get more rap biopics.

One random note...I about lost my mind in the opening scene when you see Eazy-E from behind wearing a fitted MLB hat in 1986. Fitted MLB hats did not have the MLB logo on the back until many years later. Then, to make matters worse, he turns around and the hat he's wearing is the black and white White Sox hat made famous by Dre in the Nothin But a G Thang video, which the team didn't adopt until 1991. There were other sports related costume gaffes, and as a uniform nerd it got me pretty fired up. I mean, how hard is it to take 2 seconds and research some of that stuff?

Are you sending a subliminal message that you saw Babe, that pig movie, twice in the theater?

I just hope it's on the first Blu Ray, and not just releasing the theatrical cut alone first and then we wait for a while for a special edition.

Since this is a Universal movie, I think they would do it right the first time, and include both versions of the movie. They have put out plenty of alternate cuts of their movies on home video.

Will we likely get this on home video sometime in November? I'm never really sure how long it takes for something to leave theaters and hit stores these days.

I thought there were several problems with this movie, but being too short wasn't one of them.
