Saw it tonight. I enjoyed it. It didn't blow my mind or have me rolling, but I was chuckling throughout. The end where
was pretty fucking funny. I honestly was expecting it to be alot cruder than it was...certainly could have been. I liked how all the foods from certain regions of the world were caricatures of that region...for example, the tequila bottle, salsa, refried beans had mustaches and/or Mexican hats and spoke in Mexican accents, the Asian foods had slanted eyes and spoke in various Asian accents, etc. The story was amusing as it mocked religion.
I recommend it, I give it a solid B.

I saw it last night as well.
I went in with really high expectations... and unfortunately... it didn't live up to them. It still was an overall funny movie and I would recommend seeing it. It just wasn't the gut busting laugh fest I expected (like I got with something like This Is The End).

I'm in the liked it but was kind of disappointed camp - I was expecting wall to wall laughs and while it does have some GREAT sequences and some big laughs, there was a 20 minutes stretch where the theatre was SILENT. I appreciate that this had some deeper themes but not something I see myself revisiting too often - POPSTAR is still the comedy of the year IMO.

I had a good time at this, but I don't think it's going to be one of those classics that is revisited for years. I don't think it reaches the heights of South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut or Team America -- to think of the two closest comparisons -- in quality or audacity -- but it was still pretty fun. The jokes don't stop coming, which makes it easier to stomach the ones that miss.
There was some thematic elements to the story that I wasn't expecting (which were a nice touch) but overall the story felt a bit disjointed. A sideplot with
made the movie wander a bit off target. But the movie recovers and just gets batshit crazy, going in a direction I truly wasn't expecting -- but thoroughly enjoyed.

Some unfortunate stories coming out about the production.... artists expected/pressured to work OT for free... those who left despite putting in significant time were not in the credits, etc. Not entirely surprised... I've had some bad production experiences...a lot of that is the natural ebb and flow of production (the severity depends on how well it was scheduled)... but definitely some hard knocks experiences...every artist usually has one.

As an artist myself, so much respect goes out to Annapurna Pictures for listening to the animators petition and making sure they could right all they could at the time.
Can't say the same about Nitrogen Studios or Greg Tiernan & Conrad Vernon.

I thought this was great. Really clever script. Great ending. One of the best films of the year for me.

I liked it. Like people said, the initial concept seemed one note, but they worked out some good characters and al story out of it. And yeah, that ending was great.

I was kind of meh on this. The whole satire on religion just didn't work for me and frankly the film's underlying atheist message felt preachy to me. There were some funny moments in it but overall it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.

Caught a matinee today with a buddy of mine.
It had some laughs, but I also thought it was a strange watch. It was like watching someone's drug induced fantasy of food coming to life like the movie portrayed somewhat. Also, for an animated movie and being only 90 minutes, it kind of dragged in some parts.
It was very crude, raunchy and very sexual.
The big scene near the end where:
It was a fun 1-time watch, but I would never watch this again.

I watched this tonight and I thought it had a few clever bits, but I didn't really care for it. I thought that they were really, really pushing an atheist agenda and the orgy at the end was very over the top. It has tied The Lobster for the strangest movie that I have ever seen.... 2/5

Just watched this myself. Agree with what most are saying here a lot of good bits, but it also seemed to drag a bit a times.
And while the atheism theme was right in your face I didn't really find it annoying or anything. It was kind of too silly, not to mention logically inconsistent, to take seriously.

Watched this last night and it was far better than I expected. The trailer made this look really one note. Terrible marketing.
I especially liked the bagle and flat bread whose fight over "the aisle" resembles Israel/Palestine.
As much fun as I was having I could not get out my head the story of how all the animators got ripped off during the production. That shouldn't happen.

Re: Sausage Party (2016) - Seth Rogan & Evan Goldberg, R-rated Animation
I watched Sausage Party on Netflix which I found raunchy, politically incorrect and obscene and I loved it. I especially loved the lesbian Taco voiced by Salma Hayek and the orgy scene with actors that I never thought in that way with the exception of Salma.
Unfortunately, this brings my enjoyment of the movie down since no one should be forced to work overtime unless by choice and be compensated for it. Awful move by Rogen and company...
