Spielberg is reportedly interested in directing depending if he likes the script.

Spielberg is still overall a good director so if he wants to direct I'd be fine with that. I think Lucas is more to blame for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull being so shitty. Spielberg could have kept him in line more and not went along with some of the things in that film, but I have enough faith in him to deliver a decent entry on his own.

The Adventures of Tin Tin is all the proof you need that Spielberg still has what it takes for this kind of franchise.

I'd rather have George Lucas write and direct Indiana Jones 5 starring Harrison Ford than Steven Spielberg directing an Indiana Jones movie with Chris Pratt that George Lucas has nothing to do with.

Uh, no way. Not for me. While I'm not happy with this reboot talk, I'd rather Spielberg direct Pratt and have Lucas bow out. I can't take any more of his shit.

KotCS had good intentions but the script was weak. I don't mind who the baddies were, I don't mind the aliens, and I don't mind the basic skeleton of the thing. Just the details, man.
I just feel that Spielberg was pressured for so goddamn long that he eventually caved to George.
As Roc mentioned, Tintin showed that Spielberg still has it for that type of adventure.

I'm a huge Spielberg fan, but I still have to lay KOTCS him. He's the director (and not just a director for hire, literally the biggest director in the world), he approved every shot in the film. I didn't mind the alien storyline, or Marian, his son, etc... but the execution was just awful. It was so different from the previous movies.
If it's a complete reboot, I'd rather Steven do something else...but my first choice would be one last send-off with Ford.

Spielberg basically acknowledged that Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is shitty though and he knows a lot of fans didn't like it. From the sounds of it a lot of the stuff were Lucas' ideas and he didn't necessarily like everything but went along with doing it because they're friends. So the fact he went along with stuff he thought was shit is on him but I think Lucas is more at fault.

Even though I don't care for Crystal Skull, having Spielberg direct would make me much more interested in whatever they try and do for this then not having him.
