Ditto. While I don't think she's great, I cannot deny that if she were an actress of prominence in the day I was actively reading the comics, she would have been my dream casting choice.

I don't recall her name ever being mentioned, but remember those involved with the movie saying she was definitely supposed to be Psylocke. I've complained about it before, but I hate how some of the X-Men movies have thrown in characters just for the sake of doing so without giving any thought to the actual character and how to use them.

pretty sure those are just subtle nods to the fans as they aren't going to spend valuable screen time developing each and every character in the X universe

Something this franchise does so fucking much. Colossus is mostly a fucking mute for some reason. We never get a Juggy vs. Colossus fight. We never get to see what any X-Men fan really wants out of a live action DoFP, Logan being blasted away. Never got a telepathic fight out the two times they ALMOST did it.
If that concept art for Archangel is true, it seems like they may still be doing that BS way of not going all the way w/ the property for some reason.

a nod is the Danger Room sequence in X3. Putting in popular characters to be background players isn't a nod. It's a waste.

Although as the movies have shown, I guess the X-Men franchise doesn't give a shit and just reuses the same characters they use for "nods" in bigger roles later

For me it's also using characters that don't even resemble their comic book counterparts or their powers. I don't really care about underwhelming appearances for Colossus or whatever; in fact his first appearance in X2 was just fine for me. That's a nice brief appearance of the character that was cool for the audience (although not for Solid Snake, apparently).
For instance that girl was supposed to be Psylocke, but it didn't seem like she was a telepath and no psychic knife or anything of that sort that comic book readers would recognize. I recall she had shadow powers which the character had for a brief time in the comics, but still. If that's the case, why even consider her to be Psylocke?

I'm fine and dandy with how Colossus was in X2. That was actually a perfect thing for him, great and memorable moment. It's just shitty how he's pretty much a muscled mute among a team cast who all seem to be actual characters. To make things worse, take him out of X3 or DOFP and it does nothing. Literally a waste of a character.

I don't mind if they use popular characters just for nods or cameo appearances. Seeing Dr. Henry McCoy speaking on TV in the background of X-Men 1 made sense.
But I think making Psylocke in X3 one of Magneto's random evil mutants and showing her using a power that she's not that well known for is bad idea. Why not use an actual evil mutant from the comics and show them using their mutant power? I mean there's a lot of villains to choose from in X-Men right?

I just hope that's very early in the design process.

I'd love it if they put the Dazzler in there. Just cuz she's what I think of for 80s characters for the X freaks. It's just so appropriate.
