What was the earliest Hollywood scandal you remember?
 

I recently posted to YouTube a news clip from August 17, 1992 on the Woody Allen/Soon-Yi scandal:

I showed this to a co-worker who told me that this was the first Hollywood scandal she remembered hearing about.

So I got to wondering what my first Hollywood scandal was and I believe it was when Elizabeth Taylor dumped Eddie Fisher for Richard Burton during the shooting of CLEOPATRA (1963), which was a big deal at the time.

I asked my daughter what she remembered and the best she could come up with was the Pee Wee Herman scandal that caused the cancellation of his Saturday morning TV show, although I don't think she understood the nature of his offense. (He was arrested in a porno theater.)

Scandals were less commonly reported when I was young, but much more common when you guys were growing up, so you should have a wealth of memories of this stuff.

The U.S. is practically shocked by nothing now in its culture, so the impact of celebrity scandal has greatly dissipated from the old days. Now we assume everyone working in Hollywood is a degenerate behind the scenes, so it would take a killing spree by a celebrity to be shocking anymore.

I remember hearing about Pee-Wee's scandal, but I was too young to understand what he did. Off the top of my head, the earliest one I can remember where I knew what was going on was probably OJ's double murder.

He had a 3way with a 16 year old girl at the '88 DNC. I don't think I actually remember it because I was only 8, probably after the fact. Milli Vanilli is probably my real answer.

Looking back at Milli Vanilli, how the hell did anyone ever fall for that? In the music video for "Girl You Know It's True", the rap at the beginning is obviously done by one person, yet they try to make it look like both of the guys are singing it. :lol:

I remember hearing about Elizabeth Taylor but that was while watching Cleopatra on TV so it was after the fact.
