Here's a basic list for now. If Giles is here, I'd be interested in knowing how Chinatown in DC got 70 mm equipped.

Yeah, saw where it leads the list with the disclaimer "based on internet rumors..."

Re: The Hateful Eight (2015, D: Tarantino)

Well the two locations I'm focused on have it on their websites as confirmed. I've emailed one, and talked to the program director of the other (at that time he was unsure of getting a print), so I trust their info. No showtimes listed yet though.

I would assume other independent theaters on that list would be touting it on their main page, but I didn't find any in MO specifically.

I live in Vancouver, but would have driven as far as Washington state to watch the Road show version. The closest to me is Portland, which is where I draw the line. Oh well.

When they announced the number of theaters that would carry it in 70mm I assumed that was for the US and didn't even think about overseas. With less than a month to go one would think they would know the complete theater list by now, especially those that would require to be retrofitted.

Still excited to see it, though.

I agree- we're less than a month out and no real list, let alone showtimes.

Looks like SoCal completely shut out. Every CA theater listed is in Northen California. I saw the trailer today at it looks sort of awful but want to see it in 70mm. Might pass if I cannot.

The Grand Lake is Oakland is the theater pictured in the link. Awesome

I checked their online ticketing, no tickets available yet.

Would love to see it there or at the Kabuki in San Francisco!

If that's the official list they're going by then SoCal is indeed fucked. I'm not driving up north either.

I can almost guarantee LA will have more than one theater showing it in 70. Tarantino will probably hook up the New Beverly since he's pretty much paying the rent and selecting films to show. Egyptian will probably have it, and I'm assuming ArcLight too.

Yeah, that's my thinking, too. It's only fitting.

Re: The Hateful Eight (2015, D: Tarantino)

The Arclight played both The Master and Interstellar in 70mm. Odds are they'll have Hateful Eight and I'll bet money New Beverly will have it too.

Oh, and you know, if the film doesn't play in LA, the film doesn't get Oscar nominations.

Re: The Hateful Eight (2015, D: Tarantino)

QT OWNS the fucking New Bev. I can't imagine he won't show it in 70mm there. He's a fool if he doesn't.

If by some miracle LA gets gypped on the roadshow I'll be both amazed and pissed.

Is the New Bev's screen still the same as it was around 2000? 70mm makes little difference when the screen is so small.

You know, it might be now that I think about it. I haven't been there in a couple years. Still, no reason why they couldn't do it at the Cinerama Dome.

I think the closest theater for us in the midwest will be in Chicago.

"Graphic nudity" is kind of redundant. Either you're naked or you're wearing clothes.

According to the Arclight, the Dome is capable of playing both film (35mm, 70mm, and 3-strip Cinerama) alongside digital (I did not know they used a dual-projector setup).

You lead a charmed life .
If you're a movie buff, you have to at least check out one Cinerama Dome even if it involves a long drive or possible flight.

Showing an erect penis is not the same as naked butt cheeks, right?

An erect penis is an automatic NC-17.

Pretty sure there were erections in Under the Skin, both in the audience and on screen

Re: The Hateful Eight (2015, D: Tarantino)

For anyone looking to attend the Oakland, CA screening at the Grand Lake, I got an email response from them earlier today.

By contract they have to screen Force Awakens in their main auditorium with times that cannot change for the first month of release. They are still working time slots so that they can have both The Hateful Eight run in their upstairs auditorium, Force Awakens downstairs and have everyone get to their films on time.
