The Forgiven (2022, D: J. McDonagh) S: Ralph Fiennes, Jessica Chastain
Speeding through the Moroccan desert to attend an old friend’s lavish weekend party, wealthy Londoners David and Jo Henninger (Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain) are involved in a tragic accident with a local teenage boy. Arriving late at the grand villa with the debauched party raging, the couple attempts to cover up the incident with the collusion of the local police. But when the boy’s father arrives seeking justice, the stage is set for a tension-filled culture clash in which David and Jo must come to terms with their fateful act and its shattering consequences.

Lame, generic title aside, this could be interesting. I’m a big fan of Chastain and the two movies I’ve seen from McDonagh I’ve really liked.

I rented this on Vudu and just finished it tonight. It's well acted, but very very talky. Just about a bunch of stuck up and unlikeable rich people hanging out at a remote mansion in the Moroccan desert. The underlying plot deals with the accident and cover up.
Fiennes and Chastain are fine for what they are given. They made this similar to how movies in the 60s and 70s were made where the entire credits sequence, including closing are in the beginning. When the movie does end, there is a "The End" title card and then it's over.
IMO, the movie's plot isn't really that interesting. I don't think the majority of you here would enjoy this. There is one scene involving mild sexuality with Chastain, but no nudity.
BTW, this is also on Hoopla if you haver access to it for free.
