Ambulance and now this?

I am beginning to question Jake's movie choices now.

I doubt it will have any boner inducing moments like the original when Swayze pinned Kelly Lynch to the wall and they started to make out.

re: Road House - remake (2024, D: Liman) S: Gyllenhaal

EXCLUSIVE: In what would mark his first acting job in a major studio movie, two-time UFC champion Conor McGregor is set to join Jake Gyllenhaal in Prime Video’s new reimagining of the classic 80s action pic Road House. He joins a cast that already includes Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery to join the cast. Doug Liman is directing from a script written by Anthony Bagarozzi & Charles Mondry. Joel Silver is producing for his company, Silver Pictures. JJ Hook, Alison Winter, and Aaron Auch will serve as executive producers.

The new take follows a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise. While exact details behind who McGregor will be playing are unknown, sources made it clear he would be playing an original character and not himself in the project.

If they had to remake this film (of which I am a big fan), an actor like Ryan Gosling would have been a better choice.

This reminds me that Bill Murray used to call Lynch's husband whenever he saw this movie to tell him that Swayze was pinning his wife against the fireplace again.

I wonder if they'll use the "I fucked guys like you in prison" line for the remake?

They will. But get with the times. Nothing wrong with it.

I'm surprised it's not. Though apparently the Rupert Sanders remake of The Crow is?

The filmmakers should be getting on their knees and thanking little baby Jesus that Gyllenhaal agreed to do this movie. It screams direct-to-video shitfest without him.

They also scored with Liman as director. Not all his films are gems, but he gives off more prestige than this sort of remake would suggest.

re: Road House - remake (2024, D: Liman) S: Gyllenhaal

This caught me off guard. As a huge MMA fan (I train Jiu-Jitsu as well), I was watching the event this past Saturday and checking my phone for the MMA accounts I follow as I like to read opinions and look at the smack people talk - I saw the full scene from MMA Junkie but previous to that I saw Jake G. weighing in and I was like WTF???

lol, then I remembered roadhouse but had no idea it had anything to do with the UFC - the fighting scene was beyond terrible in reality but I'm guessing it will look great on film - hahaha, Jake G's punches and not getting off the fighter - it looks like the pro in there with him made nice contact on a punch (they know how to hit just hard enough to where it won't hurt that much at all - not saying this happened but it looked like it - Jake G. doesn't seem like a chump either so he probably agreed to it) as there is a nice shot of his head snapping and sweat flying.

It was cool for the UFC to play along and Jake G. stayed for the event - him and McGregor went nuts when Valetina lost her titile.
