Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

Will watch.

Here is what she said on FB

Ronda Rousey
33 mins

It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn't be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze... I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and fans can be proud of.

Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

Hopefully her acting improves. The movie should have cheese like the original, but if her acting isn't improved it'll just come off like DTV release.

Patrick Swayze proved you don't need to act to be the star of Road House.

I'll bet feminists everywhere are getting wet over this news, what a load of bullshit. They will not stop until every form of entertainment that appeals solely to guys is completely destroyed.

Rousey sounds cool about it, and could be believable in the role. I just hate this trend.

Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

It's more about Rousey's popularity at the moment than her being the right person for the job

Rousey is the better real fighter

Gina Carano is the better actress and screen fighter

Oh no, are they erasing copies of the original?

I could be wrong but you may not have read his statement right. He could have meant it in another way.

Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

The only way this could sound worse is if Christopher Nolan wrote and directed with his brother and Hans Zimmer did the "score".

I am still waiting for a Steel Magnolias remake with Ahnuld, Sly, Van Damme and Chuck Norris.

We have a winner!

Yes, Swayze has given great performances, but he's also been in movies where real acting wasn't necessary. Tom Cruise proved it with Cocktail, where real acting wasn't a priority.

Wait, are you saying that a hot woman who kicks ass doesn't appeal to guys? Like, you really believe that?

There are roles where acting isnt necessary. But talent wise Rousey is an acting vacuum. Shes so bad that your attention cant help but be drawn to the fact that shes terrible. The vacuum sucks the life out of whatever scene shes in. Shes Paris Hilton bad.

Hopefully she can get some acting lessons and improve.

Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

and this remake will miss one of the best parts of the original

The sexual terrorism of the town babe (and Swayze's eventual love interest)

Maybe Rousey's character can be a lesbian ?

Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

You can't get stachless Sam Elliot.

Either way, she can't act for shit and even when she's just being herself on camera, it's painful. Ugggh, Entourage film... ugh.

Her stuff in Entourage wasn't great, to put it lightly, and I'm not defending my comments to say she doesn't matter. She has to have some sort of swagger, and decent cheesy line delivery for her to work in this type of role. I'm wondering if she and this movie will show up in the thread that's something like (paraphrasing here) "Actors who had one chance at stardom and blew it."

Paris Hilton was decent in Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Re: "Roadhouse" remake in the works

Casting Rhonda Rousey pretty much confirms that this will be PG-13. Everything that made the original endure for so long will not be included because of the female lead. No bloody bar brawls, random nudity, no modern day equivalent to Kelly Lynch, and no bad cheesy dialogue. If Rousey is a lesbian that might be interesting but there is no way that could happen for a major studio picture. Also is Rob Cohen still directing? That guy has never made a good movie in his life.
