Which Patrick Swayze do you prefer?

So I was talking with someone the other day about the late Patrick Swayze. Mainly about what a diverse filmography he had. He starred in every genre almost. He was in a post apocalyptic movie(Steel Dawn), romance movies(Dirty Dancing, Ghost) action movies(Point Break, Road house, Red Dawn,Next of Kin), dramas(City of Joy, The Outsiders) and Comedies(Too Wong Fu, Fatherhood).

Now admittedly he wasn't the most diverse actor but how many different role types he took is pretty interesting. So which Patrick Swayze is better? I vote for action Swayze. Every time Road house, Point Break, or occasionally Next of Kin are on TV I have to stop and watch them.

Re: Which Patrick Swayze do you prefer?

I consider Hugh Jackman to be the new Patrick Swayze in that in one movie he can be a total badass in action movies and in the next he can sing and dance his ass off!

I prefer action Swayze because I love him in Point Break but I also consider Ghost to be one of the only "Chick Flicks" I actually really enjoy. I recently rewatched Ghost a month or two ago and was surprised at how well it has held up over the years. A really fantastic film!

Re: Which Patrick Swayze do you prefer?

I guess I liked Road House Patrick Swayze the best.

When I was in Grade 6, our French teacher had this major fixation on Patrick Swayze. She would talk about him every single day. I remember when Road House came out on video and we had many discussions in the class reviewing the film (the boys thought the fighting was cool, the girls thought the sex scenes were "gross"). She had a big poster of Swayze from Road House hanging beside the blackboard, him with his shirt off, doing a karate pose. Looking back, that all seems a little weird now.

EDIT:

It was this one

Re: Which Patrick Swayze do you prefer?

Maybe it's something about French teachers because ours had something similar for Sean Connery. Almost a shrine of pictures to him up on the class wall, which struck us as strange even back then.

For definitive Swayze I don't think you can look beyond Ghost, which is probably the best movie I have seen with him in a staring role. My favourite, however, is Point Break. But that's almost a guilty pleasure of a movie..

I picked romantic movie Swayze. But really, I'm just glad theres a thread about Patrick Swayze. I always thought he was a great actor and seemed like a real stand up guy in real life.

Never cared for him or his movies. Can't think of a single movie that he starred in that i would even think of watching (first time/again) or owning.

Action Swayze. Point Break is what I think of when Swayze is brought up.

The guy was healthy. I hate cancer.

Troy Stiffler, I agree with you 100 percent. When I think of Swayze, I instantly think of Bodhi.

He owned that fucking role.

Next Of Kin is a masterpiece but mostly for Liam Neeson. Other than that film I can go without ever seeing any of them again.

Re: Which Patrick Swayze do you prefer?

I liked dramatic Swayze. He was awesome on Ghost. Although he was cool in some of his action movies like Black Dog and Next of Kin.

A good mix of action and drama Swayze was his last role on the TV series "The Beast"

It's such a shame that he smoked and drank himself to his grave. I re-watched some of his interview with Barbara Walters on Youtube recently and he said in the interview that he was still smoking even with his cancer diagnosis.

One of my favorite Swayze roles was when he played Orry Main on North and South.
