Those scenes were filmed right up the street from me at the Quabbin Reservoir. Filming under the name "Almond Benefits 2". People were talking about it a lot, but the only ones who witnessed any of it stumbled across it by accident. It's a popular place for walks and looking at foliage.

We've officially finished the editing/post production process. Huzzah!
This past week we completed the Sound Mix and Color Correction, the final steps in bringing this baby to life. We're very excited.

Next step: We await our release date. Fox Searchlight has reviewed the finished product and will soon inform us of the plan. When we have the release date you will be the first to know. That's when trailers, posters and all the promo materials will launch. It's painful to wait for this process because we're dying to share this film with you, but each step takes us closer. Again, we could not have done this without you and we thank you for all of your help.

Awesome news. Wish it was a Netflix release or similar. The first didn't find an audience until it was on disc. I feel like this would be the same. No need for a theatrical release.

Stoner cinephiles often turn to the classics whenever April 20 rolls around, from mainstream comedies like “The Pineapple Express” to indie gems like Greg Araki’s “Smiley Face.” But April 20, 2018 is going to be the day hundreds of indie film fans (and marijuana lovers) actually spend their holiday in the movie theater.
Broken Lizard founding member Steve Lemme recently sat down with Seven Days and pretty much revealed that the highly anticipated “Super Troopers 2” is arriving on April 20, 2018. The film wrapped production last month after a historic crowdfunding campaign raised $4.4 million.
“There is [a release date], but I can’t tell you what it is,” Lemme said. “Here’s what I can tell you: It’s springtime and there’s a very obvious date, which happens to fall on a Friday this year. It’s going to be our widest release. And it’s testing better than any movie we’ve tested. It came out fantastic.”
Lemme did not outright confirm the release date, but April 20 happens to fall on a Friday next year and is clearly the “obvious date” for which a sequel to a beloved stoner cult classic would open.

If the film is done then why not release it earlier? I doubt that the film is going to do any better on 4/20 than it would being released in October or January. Get the marketing out now and the film could be in theaters in a few months. No reason to wait six months just for one day.

I may have to revisit Super Troopers someday because I remember being generally unenthused about it when I first saw it, yet people seem to love the hell out of it. Maybe the problem is I saw it after everyone was hyping it as the funniest thing ever, so I had my expectations too high.
And I actually like Club Dread.
And I actually like Club Dread.
I think the humor can be very subtle. It's not always laugh out loud funny but reminded me of how my friends and I would joke around.

I'm looking forward to this, but I was also looking forward to Anchorman 2, Dumb & Dumber 2, Zoolander 2 and just about every comedy sequel ever and with few exceptions they have all been a bust. So we'll see.

I like what's in that trailer more than I have for any other relatively recent comedy sequel. While it was mostly callbacks to the first movie, they didn't seem forced or tired. I had my doubts, especially with how long it's been, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
