Well I posted this in the other thread last week as we non-Americans are lucky, so here it is again:
Saw it last night, and quite liked it, although it's not perfect. It takes way too long to get out of first gear it feels like, but once it does it rallies for a pretty awesome conclusion. There's a lot of cool stuff in it, but also I'm kind of getting a "been there, done that" feeling and hope some of these other Marvel movies take chances. Feel like they're settling into a bit of a formula.
The cast are pretty great - Hiddleston steals the movie yet again (part of me really wants that LOKI spin-off) in every scene he's in, while Hemsworth's Thor shows nice growth from the first movie. Glad to see folks like Idris Elba and Rene Russo get a bit more to do as well. I felt a bit let down by the "main" villains - Chris Eccleston gives it his all with a woefully underwritten character.
Some specifics with major SPOILERS, read not if you want surprises:

My brother was with Loki all day yesterday. Press, Chelsea Lately, and the premiere. I was there too and liked it better than the first. I don't know much about the Marvel universe, so I cannot give broader opinions like Antipodean. Just under 2 hrs if that helps

Hopefully going tomorrow afternoon. While I thought the first one was good overall, I felt it lacked the epic nature required for such a story and the Thor character. The Asgard scenes were good, but the rainbow bridge looked like something out of Mario Cart, and the stuff in the small town seemed more like a ploy to not have to spend any more money on elaborate sets. Hell, Thor spent most of his time dressed in jeans and a flannel shirt!
This one seems to give a lot of time to Asgard, so at least the epic part seems to be present.

Yeah. I don't think it'd take much to surpass the first one. I fucking hated most of the Midgard bits. Asgard was cool.

I actually really liked Thor to be honest. Thought it was one of the more underrated Phase One films personally and enjoyed it more than Captain America: The First Avenger and The Incredible Hulk. Probably going to see this either tomorrow or Saturday and am looking forward to it quite a bit!

Saw it. Definitely better than the first outing. Loki stole the show, which was to be expected. Malekith was drastically under written.
Liked:
-More Asgard and otherworldly action
-Loki
-Much better pace and story than the first movie
Disliked:
-Kat Dennings- there is no reason for her or her character to appear in this movie. Classic case of "she's on a hit TV show, we need her to make an appearance no matter how irrelevant."
-Dr. Selvig used only for comic relief.
-Unevenness. Movie went from serious/dark stuff to screwy comedy quite rapidly.
Still, I found it entertaining and will definitely add it to the collection. See it in 2D as I did. The 3D will most likely add nothing but maybe a clearer picture.
About the credits stuff:
Thanks!

First Thor was better than Cap 1 and Iron Man 2
Seeing this tomorrow, not really that excited though

Wow. This was good. Really good. Infinitely better than the 1st.
the one cameo in the movie is fucking hilarious in the context of the scene. It does start out slowly but picks up steam midway. Well worth seeing.

IMO, the 3D didn't really add that much to the film, so it's not necessary to see it in 3D. I'm comparing it to The Avengers, though, which I found to be a very immersive 3D experience.
Here's my official review of the film, which includes comments about the 3D presentation.
As for the film itself, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by all of the humor that was present throughout the film. For some reason, the humor in The Avengers caught me off guard, so either I was more prepared for it here or it was better handled. Either way, it made the film that much more enjoyable.
The thing that really struck me about the film as well was how much it seemed like a mashup of LOTR and Star Wars. Just the whole aesthetic of this film is probably a good indicator of what to expect from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Just came back from it and thought was great fun! It buries the first one, in my opinion, and not because Alan Taylor is a better director than Kenneth Branagh, because he's not. It helps that there's an already established universe and that we see more Asgardians and folk that belong to that realm than the first. The first Thor film felt very unpopulated. Dark World has scope. The action is legit, the drama is great, and it's hell lot of fun.
I shouldn't even spoiler these, but fuck it, I will:
Loki was awesome as always.
I did think it was neat that they used the star wars sound effects for all of the dark elves speed ships and the asgardian vessels. Nice little bit of crossover in terms of Disney properties.
Oh, and Kat Dennings is still extremely fuckable.

I wasn't big on the first Thor. The Asgard scenes were great, the Earth scenes were abysmally bad. The fact that most people are saying it crushes the original is a good sign
The RT at 65% is troublesome though... is that the lowest rated Marvel movie thus far?

saw it this afternoon and loved it
going in Thor was probably my least anticipated of the Marvel Studios releases and thus far both movies have been aces and possibly my favorite of the bunch
infinitely better than IM3
