I just finished watching and thought it was a great look back on the early days of the internet. I still remember the last Day of Napster and my best hs friend at the time going on a downloading binge. Good times.

I'll admit I was a Napster downloading machine. For being on 56k at the time, I could pull stuff down pretty damn fast. Not making excuses but I already had what I was downloading, on CD. It was just cooler to now have digital files to play on my computer and as many as I wanted on my 386 with 20GB HDD and not have to fuss with my CDs.

I used Napster back in the day but for the most part I didn't download popular songs. I more downloaded things like TV theme songs, movie scores, or entrance theme songs of my favorite wrestlers This documentary sounds like it could be interesting though.

I'm 43 minutes in and it's pretty cool. It's funny watching studio heads squirm as they talk about not evolving with the times.
Personally, I never got into Napster, because I didn't get my first computer until 2004. I may be an older cat but all of this flew past me when it was going down, but I had friends who did use Napster. They fucking loved it.

Just finished watching the film. It was pretty good. It's weird seeing the evolution of these guys. Fanning still seems very introverted but Parker is totally Hollywood, obviously.

I saw this on VH1 and I hope they did not cut out a lot of the footage though it was 2 hrs but padded with commercials.
I miss 2000 and downloading from Napster.
They blew a great chance to become a legitimate revenue producing music service until Jobs introduced Itunes.

I dabbled with Napster back in the day, and it was well made. I remember back in the day when the main thing was Bulletin Boards and i was friends with a lot of crackers and hackers in Europe. Would love to know what happened to them all. One i still see every time i go back to England, and remember him being busted in the mid 90s and the cops confiscating all his equipment. As with all technology, these guys were always way ahead of the curve. The guy i still see was the first person i ever knew to have a CD Burner (this is like 3 or 4 years before they were commercially available), the first person i ever knew to have a digital camera and he was knowledgeable about HD-TV coming to the forefront of home entertainment 15 years ago and also aware of the technologies ready to step in and supersede that.
The documentary is interesting. Parker always comes across as such a douche bag whenever i see him. And Metallica and Dr. Dre are such a joke. Pathetic.

I remember Napster. It was the end of the world as we knew it. "Should you be able to just go into a grocery store and take food?" The music industry should've been working on digital as its primary method of delivery immediately thereafter. I may not have been forward-looking, but they sure should've been.
