It's not like it shows in his performaces for his last couple of movies. :-)

He's been bored in them since at least 1995, because Die Hard with a Vengeance was the last one where he put in a performance where he didn't look like he was going through the motions.

What's next for him? Drama? Screwball comedies?

I guess he will be moving on to low budget Shakespearian films. ;)

Clearly it shows.

Bruce Willis is perfectly capable of doing both drama and comedy. No reason he should keep doing action.

Yeah, stuff like Moonrise Kingdom, Unbreakable, Pulp Fiction. Stick to those. Then again it's not like those projects are a dime a dozen.

There's so many apostrophe errors in the poll there's no way I can bring myself to vote on it. ;)

Willis is good when engaged - Looper, Moonrise Kingdom, Unbreakable, Sin City - but when he's not you can practically feel the disdain rippling off the screen.

I hope CM Punk doesn't see this poll.

Also he's wrong about the promotional junket not being acting. Unless every actor really does feel like the latest movie is the best of their career and that every single moment on set was a great time.

And they sure as hell are not big paychecks.

Good point. If he accepted that Expendables paycheck and denied other crap movies then maybe he could have a proper balance.

I liked it more than I thought I would. I never watched Moonlighting so I've always believed that contributed to my enjoyment.

so his performance in 'A Good Day to Die Hard' wasn't acting then? ... he was actually emoting boredom... not a real acting stretch then, eh?

Hey welcome to our world. People everyday are bored of their job, they still show up for work. It's called growing up.

yet if I had known I'd be staring at his bored expression and "why am I here" look on his face, I wouldn't have bothered in seeing 'Die Hard 5'

these actors make obscene amount of money, yet for them to act in these 'just for the paycheck' performances - reeks of sheer smugness and hypcrocity

I thought his performance was pretty good in RED 2 was pretty good. I guess that wasn't full on action though and had some comedic elements. I wouldn't mind him doing other types of films though if he's tired of action.

You're absolutely right! I couldn't bring myself to vote either.

At this point, Willis probably doesn't need to worry about the size of the paychecks.

Wish someone had graduated grade school before making this poll.

I think he does it for the paychecks nowadays, Looper wasn't bad but it wasn't really an action movie more of a thriller.

i like the guy. anything he does, i just like him. while i do see his boredom in movies (see Red 2) i still like the guy as a whole. now Moonlight Kingdom was the Bruce of old (see Nobody's Fool) and brilliant and would def. like to see more of that and not the rest of the "phoning it in" spots.

Re: Bruce Willis says he's "bored of action movies."

I have to be honest. I'm bored of Bruce Willis in action movies as well. Recently, I was thinking about the fact that Willis doesn't really have an iconic, non-genre role on his resume. The appeal of the first Die Hard was that Willis was just a "regular guy" thrust into the role of action hero, but it's been so long that we've forgotten all about "regular guy" Bruce Willis. I've always assumed that he was capable of something more meaty than what he's done over the last 20 years, but either he's not, or he just isn't interested/getting those roles. I'm thinking of the kind of stuff that a Russell Crowe or a Nicolas Cage do (or did, when those guys made good movies), or maybe even something like the stuff Clooney does with Soderbergh. I don't know. I loved Moonrise Kingdom and thought he was good in that. Hopefully he does more of that kind of thing, because that last Die Hard was pretty dreadful

Re: Bruce Willis says he's "bored of action movies."

If being bored of the action genre means he'll be making more movies like The whole 10 yards then, please Bruce, keeping making action movies!

Anybody who saw him completely sleep walk through the last Die Hard movie could already tell he was bored of action movies. Though, I'd imagine he has no one to blame but himself. He's gained some pretty good acclaim for his non-action films over the years (The Sixth Sense, Moonrise Kingdom and while maybe not well received by critics, I think Death Becomes Her is his comedic high point) but he never seems to capitalize on that, he always ends up taking the easy paycheck with crappy action movies.
