Yeah, it's not a bad way to spend 2 hours. It's just nothing special either.

 Agree. I'm also a fan of this movie as well. Williams was charming and I liked the romantic chemistry he had with Embeth Davidtz. I found the movie very moving.
I still have the freaking VHS tape I bought used at Blockbuster years ago. Never got around to getting the DVD let alone a BD. |

^ Proyas is a much better director than Colombus the hack will ever be.

Re: Bicentennial Man (1999)...Your Thoughts?
Columbus has done several notable films, including but not limited to...
Adventures in Babysitting Home Alone 1 & 2 Mrs. Doubtfire Nine Months Stepmom Harry Potter 1 & 2 Rent He's hardly a "hack" by any rational sense of the word. The only films of Proyas' I've seen are "I, Robot" and "The Crow". |

Re: Bicentennial Man (1999)...Your Thoughts?
To answer the OP's question, Bicentennial Man is somewhat notorious for being one of those films that is completely misrepresented by its trailer. Even though the film is a rather serious, even somewhat heart-wrenching, sci-fi movie, the trailer sells it as a light-hearted comedy complete with whimsical music and showcasing just about every joke in the entire movie. People were sold a wacky Robin Williams comedy, then got there and were met with a somewhat dark sci-fi film. So of course they called it crap (it isn't, IMO).

Re: Bicentennial Man (1999)...Your Thoughts?
Yeah, that trailer didn't represent the nature of the film at all. There was some humor, but the story was a drama to the core.

Re: Bicentennial Man (1999)...Your Thoughts?
I don't remember much from this movie except that I seemed overly long. It felt like it was never going to end. I think editing a good 20 to 30 minutes from it would make a tighter, less exhausting film.

^And it needed to be cut by about a half hour.

Re: Bicentennial Man (1999)...Your Thoughts?
According to my old VHS, it's 131 minutes with credits.

Re: Bicentennial Man (1999)...Your Thoughts?
Chris Columbus himself has admitted that the film stinks.
