One of the BEST DTV DC Comics films EVER! It's on the level of Mask of the Phantasm and Dark Knight Returns. Shit gets real.

It's really good. I hadn't read the comic so a lot of it was a surprise to me.

Ugh, I hate the storyline this is based off of, but with all the praise I may need to pick it up.

I saw it at the Comic-Con panel (with most of the voice talent showing up for the panel). It was okay, but I don't watch a lot of these cartoons (just not a fan of this sort of animation).

The one thing I didn't like was

Spoiler:
The revelation that Barry was the one who caused the time rift by saving his own mother, but he forgot the whole thing. Seems too convenient by half.

Don't forget Under the Red Hood. That movie was much better than the comic it was based upon. Plus its the one and only time Jason Todd has appeared outside the comics.

I didn't think the main comic storyarc was anything special, but the Batman miniseries crossover written by Brian Azzarello was awesome.

Flashpoint spoilers

Spoiler:
In the Flashpoint universe, Joe Chill killed Bruce Wayne and Thomas and Martha survived. Thomas became that universe's Batman and he was a brutal killer similar to Punisher. Martha went insane and became that universe's Joker.

I haven't seen the movie, but in the comic
Spoiler:
Barry didn't create the rift. Reverse Flash did. Barry tried to fix it, and throughout the whole story he was slowly losing his memory of the "old" universe so when he finally "fixed" it he thought it was fixed when it actually wasn't.

No.
Spoiler:
During the first 4 issues, Barry believes it's the Reverse Flash. In Issue #5, it was revealed that Barry caused the rift in time by attempting to save his mother. When he ran back in time, he ripped apart the timelines of those closest to him - The Justice League. He makes this revelation right before Zoom is killed by Batman Sr.

I for one loved Wonder Woman and think it is one of the best DTV by DC. Does this new one crush that?

On a side note, is the blu-ray/dvd/ultraviolet pack a Target exclusive, or is it just not marked correctly on Amazon?

No, it's not an exclusive. It's the standard combo pack Warner releases.

Kevin Conroy as Batman? I'm there. Why does Redbox never have these damn things?

Kind of a spoiler (not a big one), but...

Spoiler:
Conroy's voice isn't in a heck of a lot of the movie save for the beginning and end. Similarly, Nathan Fillion, voicing Hal Jordan again, only has a few lines. In both cases, they're more or less cameos...

Heck, for 13.99 for a BluRay/DVD/Ultraviolet combo, I'll give it a try. I do think it's odd that the package doesn't have any stills of the actual cartoon, so I have no idea what the art style is like just based on the packaging alone.

Not even close. WW is still the best film they've put out, with Under the Red Hood coming up behind it.

Just finished watching this. Wow. That was fucking awesome. Violent as hell, tons of fantastic cameos of characters from the DC universe. Really well done, and one of the best animated movies DC has ever done.

I haven't gotten a chance to pick this up yet but the Flashpoint Trade Paperback was pretty good so I look forward to seeing this adaptation of it. I think these DC animated films have been pretty strong for the most part.

Re: Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

I'd say this was my favorite after Under the Red Hood, then either Wonder Woman or the Dark Knight Returns.

Can I get a spoilerized if necessary explanation why
Spoiler:
Wonder Woman goes from the nicest person in the world to a bloodthirsty warlord?

Re: Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

Incredible movie, almost goes past the PG-13 rating.

I have been reading The Flash comics since the early 70's, seeing him run around the screen was really cool.

TV series would be great, but give me a JL movie with him in it.

WW is still one of the best ever that DC has put out, it could have easily been turned into a live action movie. And, I think it would have been extremely successfully in the Boxoffice.

I agree that WW, The Red Hood and FlashPoint are three best ever from DC.

WW was is the 4th best selling and 4th most profitable animated movie DC has put out, but it never has received the respect it deserves.

***FlashPoint was sold out at BestBuy by 8pm on Tuesday, with is a good sign for the movie.

I hear conflicting reports about this. While Wikipedia lists it among the most profitable, Warner/DC has said that a sequel to WW was scrapped because it didn't sell well. And it's the only DC title I've seen show up frequently at deep discount stores like Big Lots and Five Below.

It is an excellent movie, though.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but at least in the comic
Spoiler:

In the alternate universe, Wonder Woman was to get married to Aquaman but something happened resulting in war between Themyscira and Atlantis; I believe Flashpoint starts years into this war.

It's also important to note that Wonder Woman is sometimes portrayed as an Amazon who has no problem with war or killing if it's for the greater good. So she's not always the nicest person in the world, even though she is also sometimes represented as an ambassador of peace.

Flashpoint was basically DC's version of Age of Apocalypse, complete with Kubert art, a what if tale caused by someone messing with time travel, with one person from the "real" universe trying to make things right.

Re: Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

Yeah this was really good. Pretty much a direct adaptation from the Flashpoint graphic novel but the graphic novel itself is really good too. I would agree that this is one of the stronger DC Animated films along with Batman: Under the Red Hood, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Parts 1 and 2, and Superman: Unbound. I haven't seen Wonder Woman. The only thing that bothers me sometimes with these DC Animated features is that there's no continuity between any of them really. Sometimes that can be a benefit but other times it can be kind of annoying if you ask me.
