Excited about this, used to read the books to my 4th grade class. Sort of a James Bond meets the world of supernatural creatures. Very cool stuff.

I bought that on Hollywood Stock Exchange about 20 years ago for $3-4/share. Glad to see my investment is finally paying off.

Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.
“Artemis Fowl” is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel, Adrian Scarborough and Miranda Raison, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench. Kenneth Branagh, p.g.a. and Judy Hofflund, p.g.a. are producing with Angus More Gordon and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. Conor McPherson and Hamish McColl wrote the screenplay.
Disney’s “Artemis Fowl” opens in U.S. theaters on May 29, 2020.

Looks good, and better than MIB:I at the very least. So it's MiB meets HP, with Gollum thrown in. And Josh Gad. But Josh Gad ruins everything, so I'm guessing that'll mess up the movie a bit.

Disney has an annual quota of live action misfires it needs to uphold.

I’d imagine this would’ve ended up on Disney+ if they didn’t already sink $100mil into it.

It was never going to make any money anyway. Having to sink more money into a marketing campaign for a new date wouldn't be worth it for this.

That's probably why it got dumped to D+
Disney probably saw they had a turkey and knew it was a waste of money to prolong a theatrical rescheduling.

Stuckmann hated it and gave it an F. He called it one of the worst Disney live-action movies ever made.
