That, or it's easier to get buzz now then it would be if it premiered on Thursday/Friday since people have these few days to talk about them alone opposed to getting lost in all the Star Wars discussion.

That trailer did not appeal to me at all. Not at all.

I liked the Beastie Boys song bringing back that moment from the first movie. Other than that, well after Star Wars this week, we may all find a lot of upcoming movies lackluster in scope. I'm also fairly certain when audiences see this trailer, if the song doesn't throw them off enough, the "And Justin Lin The Director of Fast and Furious" should provide a fairly good laugh.

Reminds me of the trailers for the last two films were also marketed as non-stop action and ended up not being non-stop action.
It's just a trailer folks.
I've enjoyed these new movies and am looking forward to more. Even if this one sucks, it wouldn't ruin any of the other movies or TV series for this Trek fan.

That looks fucking terrible. I get that Paramount feels that they have to amp up the action to appeal to a broader audience but that didn't even feel like Star Trek but more like a sci-fi action film using Star Trek characters. I didn't think this would be worse than Into Darkness but I may be wrong.

Enterprise is an underrated series I'd say. It's not perfect but it's better than a lot of people give it credit for being and was a fairly good prequel to the Trek universe. It got particularly good in the last couple of seasons or so and its a shame that it got cancelled right when it was really starting to hit its stride.

The reactions here are how I felt about the trailers for the first two movies.

It is nice to see Chris Pine paying tribute to Shatner's toupee with his look in this film though...

The trailer doesn't exactly give a Star Trek vibe or style.
It looks like the movie could possibly be good, but whoever cut the trailer wanted to appeal to ADD kids who went to the last couple Fast and the Furious movies and he totally amped up the tone to a hyperactive level.
If they market this movie like this consistently they may have a box office disappointment on their hands. At this point I'd cut a new trailer that is more Star Trek in tone and release it in February.

I've reached a point over the last 20 years where I think Disney should buy the Star Trek franchise from Paramount. What horrible thing can befall this once venerable franchise under the Mouse's hands that Paramount hasn't done to it since Voyager? The Force Awaken's looks respectful to the source material than Beyond does for Trek's.
Gone are the days when Kirk had to make a fateful choice on whether Joan Collins should live to save the future and gone are the days when Picard would fight for Data's rights as a sentient being...

Has everyone forgotten that there's a new Star Trek TV series coming from CBS All Access? Hopefully, that show will satisfy the wants of fans that this current movie series does not.

I've always liked Generations. Maybe I'm a bit nostalgic for it as I remember going to it in the theater with my dad and my grandpa but I've always enjoyed it. I thought the opening with Kirk, Scotty, and Chekov on the Enterprise B was pretty good and liked the stuff with Data and his emotion chip. Also the sequence on the Holodeck is pretty entertaining if you ask me and the saucer separating and crashing is cool. Kirk and Picard meeting was pretty awesome too if you ask me, even if it was done in the Nexus and was an alternate reality rather than a real meeting. Also Picard and Kirk prevent Soran from succeeding with his plan to live in a permanent Nexus so they aren't stuck there. I feel like Generations had a lot of good character moments in it. Maybe the story isn't the strongest overall but I find it enjoyable enough.
