Damn. Amanda lookin' afro-licious at 1:21 in the trailer
I don't think Hefner was in his early twenties in 1972 though.

I wonder if the movie will include the scene from Lovelace's autobiography where her husband gets a blowjob from Sammy Davis Jr?

This has both Chris Noth and SJP? Going for S&C reunion?
I just can't buy Seyfried as Linda Lovelace, she isn't trashy enough .

is probably not entirely truthful. I've read "Ordeal" as well, which I assume the film is based upon, but it is not nearly as entertaining.

Though many have refuted the accuracy of the book, I have yet to read any account which completely discredits her stories, some of which are pretty horrifying, actually. To her credit, she didn't appear in any other major porn movies after DEEP THROAT, despite some considerable offers (although she did a couple non-graphic pictorials years later). She constantly portrays herself as a victim, and sometimes it's hard to generate too much sympathy based on that tone.
I also read her book OUT OF BONDAGE which follows up on the aftermath of ORDEAL. Again, it's a fascinating and educational read but with a definite political agenda.
The whole Sammy Davis tale reads like a low-blow (no pun intended) piece of sensationalism. Lovelace admits that he's one of the few who every treated her nicely, but she makes has no problem in revealing some very private details.

Ordeal is a strange book. I believe the horrible things Lovelace claims about her relationship with Trainer, that he beat her, that he forced her into prostitution, that he forced her to act in porno films... so why is it that she comes across so unlikable? She is a victim, but I've read the book twice (twenty years ago and now recently) and she is so hard to sympathize with. Frankly, she comes across as a real dummy, who has nothing going in life for her other than a cool guy who she tolerates a lot of bullshit from cause he drives a cool car and has money.
Like DieselsDen points out, her books were written with a heavy anti-porno agenda, which often comes across as unfair. The abuse she suffers is at the hands of Chuck Trainer, not the makers of Deep Throat whom by her account treated her wonderfully and even made attempts to get her away from Trainer.
As well as the Sammy Davis Jr. chapter, Lovelace also meets other famous sex figures of the era such as Hugh Heffner and Xaviera Hollander (whom she writes mostly about how fat and greasy her hair looks).
So is the other Lovelace movie still being made? Seems like such a weird person to have two nearly back to back biopics made of, but then again, we did get both Dante's Peak and Volcano the same year.

Ron Howard tried to make a Lovelace flick about 15 years ago. That would have certainly been interesting.

Don't really care about this movie or how "true to real life it is". Just wake me up when the screengrabs and clips are available for the "good" parts.

Screencaps are out there. They're real, and they are spectacular.

Gave this a look last night. It felt like a standard biopic halfway through, but it takes a dark turn (Via certain POV) in it's 2nd act and hardly ever lets up. As mentioned earlier, Seyfried tends to be a real stunner here.
Did not recognize Sharon Stone AT ALL.
Lastly, there's a brief sequence where we scroll through a box-office chart circa 1972. It's pretty amazing to see the titles that had appeared at movie theaters at one time:
The Godfather
Fritz The Cat
Prime Cut
Deep Throat
The Other
The Legend of Ni99er Charley
A Clockwork Orange
The Culpepper Cattle Company
The Hot Box/The Big Doll House (I guess the double-bill counted as one)
Interesting times to be a moviegoer back then!

Based on what I read about the film beforehand, I was expecting the narrative structure to be more complicated, but it was actually pretty straightforward what they did (doubling back halfway through to fill in the gaps).
Overall a good film. I didn't have a problem recognizing Sharon Stone at all though. In fact, it was actually a little distracting having so many famous/relatively famous names in the movie. Chloe Sevigny's name shows up in the trailer and in the poster and she has literally one line in the whole movie!
See my review of the film here.

Glad that they got Eric Roberts in the cast who will no doubt add to the sleazy creepy factor in whatever role they chose to cast him in.
