What happened to Youtube?

I'm not complaining but does anyone know what happened to Youtube that you can now watch tons of full length uncut movies & TV shows, watch full length wrestling PPVs, listen to full soundtracks, and their is tons of nudity but just short of actual hardcore sex, even though it got very close in a couple of clips I checked out.

I was searching for something and I found tons of full length 80's movies so I decided to scan through some & they are definitely the uncut versions with all the language, sex & nudity in them. I searched for a soundtrack and tons of full soundtracks came up. Almost full seasons of TV shows are on there as well. I remember just a few years ago when studios were cracking down on Youtube to remove copyrighted material so did they just give up? I did see where you have to pay for some movies but most of the movies I found were free.

They are finally living up to their name. It's your tube, put on whatever you want. First rule of business, give people what they want.

If the content owners want to reject it, they will.

Which means we can enjoy the following until 20th Century Fox decides it's worth the $2 to pay an employee to take it down? Unless RonnieJamesDevito paid the movie company money to host it on his YouTube profile? (and I'm thinking it may be Christian Slater's agent.)

Re: What happened to Youtube?

Years ago YouTube gave copyright owners a choice:

Earn ad revenue on your content.
Take your content down.

Most smart companies picked the former option.

It's amazing what gets to stay on and what gets pulled. Full-length movies from major studios seem to be on there forever, but I've uploaded a couple obscure music videos (of songs that aren't even on anything currently in print) that were taken down rather quickly.

Re: What happened to Youtube?

I made a music video using clips from Rookie of the Year and it was flagged immediately by Fox, yet I see a ton of videos that do the exact same thing and they are fine.

Re: What happened to Youtube?

The only thing I've seen on YouTube that I miss was a movie montage video of Newsies with Haddaway's "What Is Love?" playing over it. Funnier than the SNL skit and movie.

Re: What happened to Youtube?

One of my most favorite videos on 'tube.

It was always amusing to revisit this video throughout the years to see if Motorhead was playing or not.

Re: What happened to Youtube?

I've had the third "Major League" film on my channel for over a year, with no flags. Yet, I posted the special edition documentary for "T2", and it was yanked within 24 hours.

Re: What happened to Youtube?

Don't they have software to spot direct rips? I remember reading that's why people have to toy with the specs on full album uploads.
