Regardless of runtime and content, it's rated NC-17 so that pretty much guarantees a small release.

It's being released at the art house here in Salt Lake City next week, so it's at least getting something of a national release.

On the other hand, it was banned in Idaho.

Yeah, once upon a time a cinema would've been the only place to see it and it would have been a big I Am Curious: Yellow type of deal. Nowadays, "the scene" will be all over the Internet the day after it comes out, and then people will rent the DVD and use the chapter stops. Although finding this on DVD might not be easy, Blockbuster, Redbox, and Netflix won't carry NC-17 stuff, will they? Will Vudu?

Yes, also true. I wonder how explicit the stuff in it is? Is it just because of the notoriously prudish MPAA, or is it pretty outre?

Really didn't need that image, thanks.

I was waiting for that, I figure it would get censored someplace.

Surprisingly, one my local libraries has the graphic novel.

Blockbuster rents the UNRATED version of Caligula as well as many titles that could easily be considered softcore pornography.

I must revise my views on Adele Exarchopoulos. The first pictures I saw of her, including the one posted on page one of this thread, made her look not good. But she looks really cute in the trailer and some newer pics of her that I've seen. She's a woman that looks best with little or no makeup. Then again, I tend to prefer women who wear little to no makeup.

That said, my heart still belongs to Léa Seydoux.

Yeah, I'd already seen newer pictures of her that made me revise my opinion. Though the pic in the first page is terrible as are many of here's I've seen. I guess she simply takes a lot of bad pictures.

And who cares that she's French? That doesn't help or hurt in any way.

Meh. I adore Léa Seydoux but her being French has nothing to do with why.

So is the French BD already available to order? If so, does it have English subtitles and is it region free?

So I found pre-orders for the French BD and the UK BD. The latter obviously has subtitles but, despite the 18 certificate, I've no idea if it's the uncut film. And I've no idea if either is region locked.

They tend to be much more liberal about sexual content in Europe, but I don't know if the BBFC would be that permissive or not. Wouldn't they list cuts on their website?

I think my local ArcLight is playing it and the running time says 179 minutes. I read post further back that said it was 187 minutes. Which is it then?

You're probably thinking the same thing we do, which is that it's a censored version. I suppose you could technically say PAL speedup, but that wouldn't apply with film projection, how does it work with DCPs? I'd assume they're universal.

EDIT: My IMDb app shows the runtime at 179 minutes too. It's showing at a fairly nearby art house. Odd. Maybe it is censored, but it's still NC-17.

Shouldn't PAL speedup not even apply when it comes to HDTV?

I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Does it on BR or DCP? Obviously, these won't be film prints.
