Questions thoughts regarding Conan the Barbarian...
So it's one of those nights.... I am home alone, my fiancé is out with a friend.
I could have reached out to friends, but I felt like having a night to myself. I decided to to pop in the blu-ray of Conan the Barbarian. So I am at the point where Conan is fucking the absolute shit out of the witch lady, who lured him into her hut. He thought if he banged the shit out of her, she would then tell him about the "whole snakes facing each other cult" who just happened to slaughter his family. But the witch lady starts freaking out while Conan is doing his thing. She starts to attack him. He throws her in the fire. She turns into some flashy energy shit, and then she hackles while flying away. Conan watches in amazement as she flies away, and then says "Crom!". I don't understand why he refers to Crom in this situation. He obviously does not think that the witch lady was Crom.... He should have said something like.... "Hey dad, I wish you could see this fucking awesomely crazy situation I found myself in." Instead, he chooses to refer to a god that does not exist. Trust the steel Conan, fuck Crom. |
Re: Questions thoughts regarding Conan the Barbarian...
I think he exclaimed "Crom!" the way most people would say "Jesus!" or "Christ!" in such a situation.

Re: Questions thoughts regarding Conan the Barbarian...
Crom is a grim and gloomy and unforgiving god, ever watching from atop his mountain in dark clouds and obscuring mists, ready to pass a disapproving judgment on any and all. However, he is also said to value courage and tenacity in mortals, even if the human ultimately proves too frail to succeed. Worshipers of Crom claim that he grants his followers strength and endurance and has little patience for weakness. It is commonly held that Crom does not answer prayers and disfavors weakness, therefore the name of Crom is typically only invoked during an oath or curse. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K5nUUD8SM0Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

He could have also been exclaiming Crom's name as though he were acknowledging it was a test from him.

Re: Questions thoughts regarding Conan the Barbarian...
He actually said "Crumb!" and wiped a piece of bagel from his lip. They cut out the wipe but kept the remark hence the confusion.

He actually said "Crumb!", in reference to the infamous cartoonist Robert Crumb, who played his sidekick in the original cut of the film. He was cut out at the studio's request, but they kept the remark, hence the confusion.
