Didn't see a thread on this, and truthfully I didn't expect one. I saw this today and found it quite fascinating. It is by the directors of SWEETGRASS. LEVIATHAN is a "Doc" about the commercial fishing industry. It was quite fascinating. |

My friend was asking me about showtimes for this a few months back, I guess that time is now.

Carp. I was hoping for a remake to this:

LEVIATHAN is a "Doc" about the commercial fishing industry. It was quite fascinating. It might have worked as a short. But clocking in at 87 minutes, I found it to be one of the most dull and tedious films I've ever seen in theaters. I found some of the imagery interesting, but over 87 minutes it became far too repetitive. The filmmakers( and I hesitate to call them that) tied a couple cameras to a boat, threw a couple cameras on the floor inside the boat, then let them wash around for awhile, then haphasardly edited the film together and called it a movie. I don't buy it. It's a home movie that your dad made when he forgot that the camera was on for 40 seconds, except it takes place on a boat, is very pretentious and clocks in at an hour and a half. |

I like it when Ed Harris says "Should have always known this is a round-trip ticket!"

I saw it at the Vancouver film fest, this past October. It made my worst of the year list. Number 2 in between Amazing Spiderman and The Dictator.
