Didn't see a thread on this, and truthfully I didn't expect one. I saw this today and found it quite fascinating. It is by the directors of SWEETGRASS. LEVIATHAN is a "Doc" about the commercial fishing industry. It was quite fascinating.

My friend was asking me about showtimes for this a few months back, I guess that time is now.

I saw it at the Vancouver film fest, this past October. It made my worst of the year list. Number 2 in between Amazing Spiderman and The Dictator.

It might have worked as a short. But clocking in at 87 minutes, I found it to be one of the most dull and tedious films I've ever seen in theaters. I found some of the imagery interesting, but over 87 minutes it became far too repetitive.

The filmmakers( and I hesitate to call them that) tied a couple cameras to a boat, threw a couple cameras on the floor inside the boat, then let them wash around for awhile, then haphasardly edited the film together and called it a movie. I don't buy it. It's a home movie that your dad made when he forgot that the camera was on for 40 seconds, except it takes place on a boat, is very pretentious and clocks in at an hour and a half.

I like it when Ed Harris says "Should have always known this is a round-trip ticket!"

Thanks for replying about the actual film, Tuthfully, I think that there are two or three people I know that if I recommend that they see the movie would A. See it and B. Enjoy it. I would agree with some of the visuals, but I loved the sound and in a whole it payed really well for me. I also was thinking about how we fit as a "leviathan" and the hypnotic passive roles we play in the devastation of the ocean. i.e. the guys shucking the scallops.

Yeah, even will all the dated visual effects, it's still entertaining.

Oh and that latino guy from * batteries not included is also in this along with a brief appearance by Meg Foster.

That movie has everything! I wonder if we should write Shout Factory to release it on BD.

I should move it to the "They used to be hot..." thread.
