Re: Alpha Papa (The Alan Partridge Movie)
Watched this today with my wife and a pretty full cinema. Loads of fun and a comedy which succeeds at its most basic level of actually being funny. Had a quick look on imdb and there's no US release date listed? Does this mean its not actually going to make it to the American market? If so then you fellas across the pond are really missing out..

Re: Alpha Papa (The Alan Partridge Movie)
I hear it opened at #1 in the UK. I have my doubts that the US will get a wide theatrical release, the character just isn't well-known enough here. Get that sucker out on blu-ray, post haste!

Never heard of Alan Patridge charecter. Looked it up and it seems funny. I love Steve Coogan so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Re: Alpha Papa (The Alan Partridge Movie)
How can you love Steve Coogan yet not know his most famous character? That's like being a Shatner fan, but not knowing about Captain Kirk.
Seek out "Knowing Me, Knowing You" (one series), then I'm Alan Partridge (two series), then Mid-Morning Matters (one series), before seeing the movie.

Don't know if you've seen his appearances on The Day Today, Numanoid? Still one of the best things he's done IMO..

Re: Alpha Papa (The Alan Partridge Movie)
^ Of course, but since his appearances are only a couple minutes of each episode, I'd never recommend anyone to start there (though I love TDT). But catching up with them as standalones on YouTube is a good idea, though. I also recommend Knowing Me, Knowing You... With Alan Partridge, the complete BBC Radio 4 Series, which came before the TV show and features the same cast.

Partridge film gets a US release
The Alan Partridge movie Alpha Papa is to get an American release – but not until 2014.
The Steve Coogan film, which is now in UK cinemas, will get a premiere at the 2013 New York Film Festival next month, ahead of a limited nationwide release early next year.
Rights have been picked up by US distributor Magnolia Pictures, which will release it as simply Alan Partridge.
The movie was produced by Coogan’s Baby Cow company with Studiocanal, which negotiated the US deal.

This was excellent. Not only was it hilarious, as Alan Partridge always is, but it was unexpectedly touching as well.

Yep. Seen it several times now. Lots of callbacks to the shows. Well written and performed. Another win for Coogan.
