Safe Haven (2013; S: Julianne Hough, Josh Duhamel; D: Lasse Hallström)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1702439/combined

A young woman with a mysterious past lands in Southport, North Carolina where her bond with a widower forces her to confront the dark secret that haunts her.

Really really really liked it.

Spoiler:
There's a twist at the end. Really enjoyed it and did not see it coming and it elevated the movie from great to awesome. As soon as I saw the twist, though, I thought to myself the Internet is going to be filled with hate for the ending  Surprised IMDB showed more love than hate for it.

My first introduction to Cobie Smulders, really liked her.

I didn't see a topic (and didn't bother making one) but I saw this a week ago and it was junk.

Spoiler:

Accidentally guessed the "twist" early into the movie. I knew there was one, but I in no way considered this to be it, even when I offhandedly guessed it. It looked like she disappeared behind some bushes, and I randomly thought "Oh, what if she's not real." Not necessarily that she was the wife though. Nothing serious. But of course...

If your main character is the only person to talk to another character....SIXTH SENSE ANYONE? I wasn't 100% on it until later when she fucking DREAMED of the woman warning her. That sealed it, what other reason would this idiot have to be stalking the main character's HEAD? Otherwise I thought a twist might be that she (Julianne Hough) actually gets killed, or leaves with the husband to keep Josh Duhamel and family safe. Throughout, I was also wondering why Cobie Smulders accepted such a useless role, until the twist was confirmed...and by then, it was confirmed that it was still a useless role, so I'm still wondering.

Also the worst cop-out (marketing wise) was making us believe she was actually in trouble. I would have been on board if she were actually a criminal, not some evil person but down on her luck and still on the run, someone who made a mistake but wants to change. As it is, she is 100% innocent of anything ever, nope, nosiree, she never did a bad thing in her life.

And how the fuck is she going to deal with the fact that she was talking to A FUCKING GHOST the entire time? If she told Josh Duhamel, will he think she's nuts? If she keeps it a secret, won't that be a burden? Has anybody ever seen a ghost before in this wacky universe? Yikes.

I'll tell you what Deb, MoviePass is certainly letting me see things I normally wouldn't. Like bottom of the barrel type stuff.

This thread is a joke right? I read what the twist was and it sounds like one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard of.

Yeah, up to now her biggest film role was a major part in the little-seen independent film The Avengers.

Maybe she meant her first experience seeing Cobie Smulders actually acting. I swear she acciddentally wandered from a set of a porno when they shot her scenes in The Avengers. Then again, I doubt many porn stars would be that bad.

Seems about on par for Joss Whedon.

She was also in the esteemed Slammin' Salmon. I liked it, but felt she sucked in Safe Haven and unmemorable in The Avengers.

Because if people's opinions are not the same as yours or the same as an article they are wrong

Eh, I did see The Avengers, I don't always recognize them.
