900K is a lot of money for alimony though, what is this woman buying?
Once upon a time he was one of Hollywood’s biggest box office draws, but now Brendan Fraser is “broke” and fighting to reduce the huge alimony and child support payments he was ordered to pay his ex-wife, RadarOnline.com is reporting. Fraser, 44, who once had a net worth of $45m and is currently starring in animated movie Escape from Planet Earth, has pleaded with a Connecticut court to slash his annual $900,000 payment to Afton Smith because he can no longer afford them. The Mummy actor had only settled his divorce with Afton in 2009 – but insists that he can’t cover the costs he initially agreed to because he’s no longer earning the money he once did. According to a report in the New York Post , Afton claims that Brendan is hiding money from her, despite his protestations that his earnings aren’t what they used to be. |

Brendan Fraser had a nice run there. There was a certain type of role that he excelled in, but that vogue is over. He just missed out on the superhero trend. He would have made a good Green Lantern or Flash or Captain America or something once upon a time, but he's too old now. Somebody should have crafted a TV series for him. It's not too late for that to happen. He could play a detective or a small-town sheriff. He might want to start doing more hard-edged roles, maybe try to do a Buford Pusser-type role. Is he still in shape? I don't think I've seen him in anything since that third MUMMY movie five or so years ago.

They've been divorced since 09 and he still has to pay alimony? That's some bullshit. There should be a cut off date for that.

PenguinJoe must work for the National Enquirer. Title doesn't match the story. All that is happening is he's trying to get the alimony payment adjusted since his income has become reduced.

This isn't about how much Brendan Fraser had in the past (which was likely split in some way during the divorce), or how much the ex wife has, it's about the amount of alimony and child support he agreed to during the divorce, and whether Fraser's current pay is enough to cover that annual amount. |
