The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
AKA The Google Movie.

So it's basically Old School but they're interns at Google. Got it.

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
I really wish Vince Vaughn could do something useful, like quit acting. Or, better yet, drop dead!

Trailer does not look good, and I too loved Wedding Crashers. That stupid X-Men bit at the end made me chuckle though. Probably wait for DVD after the suckfest that was The Watch. And The Dilemma. And Couples Retreat. And Four Christmases. And Fred Claus. And You, Me and Dupree...

Saw this today and had fun. It's a nice change of pace from all the explosion movies this summer, and I generally enjoy Vince Vaughn.

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
Giving this a PG-13 really killed my interest as I feel it will cramp the style for these guys. Only thing that appeals to me is the idea of two older guys trying to break back in to a workforce dominated by younger people. Something to which I can relate.

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
saw a screening of this last night. possibly one of the most annoying films ive EVER watched, mostly due to Vaughn. I can't imagine thinking this kind of "humor" is funny, and I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to dumb comedies like this.
I rarely would ever not recommend a movie. Or come to a board to post about how much I hated it. This was awful. |
Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
The reviews I read (NY Times and NY Post) both gave this low marks and branded it an infomercial for Google.

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
all of Vince Vaughns movies are nothing but ad placements. I dont know why but I cant stand it or him.

Saw it. It has a few chuckles, but without Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson this movie would be a complete waste of time for anyone who views it.
I will say, it was nice seeing Rose Byrne be able to use her real speaking voice for once. |
Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
She does that in comedies from time to time, I think that was her actual voice in Get Him to the Greek.

While it's not something I'd want to own, it was funny. I'd give it a C+.

I did enjoy it, but I really liked Wedding Crashers, so I was glad to see these guys team up again.

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
In The Internship, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson take their buddy comedy to Google headquarters. After Googling “Google,” they score positions as interns, or "Noogles," where they must prove to a gaggle of Googlers that they have Googliness — you know, “that intangible stuff that made a search engine into an engine for change.” Vaughn brought the idea to Google years ago, and although they didn’t play a direct role in creating The Internship, they seemed very happy to cooperate. The result is less product placement in a movie and more movie placement in a product's infomercial. To show just how egregious it is, we documented every time Google was said in the movie or seen onscreen. Afterward, you'll probably want to Google showtimes for a different movie. http://www.vulture.com/2013/06/every...nternship.html |

Watched the unrated cut, don't know what's really different but the biggest laughs I got were near the beginning with Vince Vaughn's

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
I would have been more interested in Wilson and Vaughn teaming up again if they were doing a sequel to Wedding Crashers. Never got around to seeing this but it looked like a pretty average comedy. Might rent it some time.

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
The beginning actually starts off like a really sad follow up to Wedding Crashers, with them being rejects and Will Ferrell turning into a mattress salesman.

Re: The Internship (June, 2013) - Owen Wilson / Vince Vaughn comedy about Google
I thought this was awful, and this is coming from someone who really enjoyed Wedding Crashers.
Both Vaughn and Owen Wilson were nearly forgettable in their roles, and I felt some of the scenes went on for way too long (namely the Quidditch match and the strip club). It really was just a 2 hour long advertisement for Google. I saw the unrated cut as well, so I'm wondering how it differs from the theatrical. I know this was rated PG-13 in theaters, though, so I'm guessing given the amount of tits, overly descriptive dick jokes, and f-bombs dropped that it differs significantly. Best parts of the movie were easily Will Ferrell and John Goodman. Vince Vaughn needs to channel his inner Norman Bates and creepy sadistic nutjob from Domestic Disturbance and drop comedy altogether. His schtick in this one was like nails on a chalkboard. I used to really like him, so I don't know what happened. Maybe it's just too much of the same. |
