i haven't heard anything about cutting. At worst, itll be up to the MPAA
The only way it gets "cut" is if Gareth decides certain parts could be shortened/tightened. Since its a Sony Classics release (and it played really well at Sundance) i don't see them ordering any cuts to shorten it. Only way we'l see cuts is if the MPAA decides portions are too violent

It's an Indonesian word for ... Hooligan? That's according to google translate.
Anyway, the director hasn't mentioned anything specific about cutting, only that, before Sundance, he expected the MPAA to want to slice the film. That was prior to actually discussing it with them, though.

Rated R for Strong Bloody Violence throughout, sexuality and language.
per the XYZ twitter feed (the main producers) only a few frames had to be cut to get the rating. so good news for all

Still sounds like there'll be an inevitable "unrated" version on Blu. Sexuality? What heck kind of sex do these guys have time for in between being martial arts action heroes?

i read that the 'rough' cut was about 180 minutes, so maybe the so called 'unrated' version will restore the 1 or 2 seconds the mpaa deemed NC-17 worthy & scenes he cut

The concept of cutting seconds and frame out of movies remains a mystery to me. I'm not in favor of censorship, but at least I understand cutting out a scene, how someone could be more offended by a couple of seconds, or hell, a few frames (which you need sophisticated equipment to measure) is beyond me.

I'm beyond excited to see this in two days. This is almost an early start to the summer for me. I've been avoiding trailers so far, and hope to see this without any trailer spoilers.

For those that are in the Hollywood/L.A. area Cinefamily is also showing the film with a Q&A from cast and crew on Thursday. I'm curious to see how this is going to work out since my screening is somewhere else on this very same day and roughly same time:

Haha, I guess we won't be crossing paths then! I'm a member at Cinefamily, and I managed to catch a screening of The Raid: Redemption when it previewed there, a great crowd to watch it with. But yea, I'm curious how both screenings are supposed to have Q&A's.

Just found out Gareth Evans will be at my screening.
Maybe I can get him to sign all three copies of The Raid I have on Blu-ray... and the CD soundtrack... and the Mondo vinyl... and... that's all I've got.
edit: well balls. That was a printing error.

Damn, I was going to see if you could ask some questions about the new Godzilla while he was there.
