Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
Why would you post this today? It was just announced today that this project is dead.

Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
Delayed, not dead.

Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
Delayed indefinitely, so pretty much dead.

Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
The book to me just seems unfilmable without a 400 million dollar budget. And frankly its not that entertaining of a story. The ideas it explores have been done several times over in film already so I doubt this will ever get made.

It gives me time to read the book.

Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
I thought Spielberg's next project was some Moses biblical film.

From EW:
Following word yesterday that director Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse had been put on indefinite hold, EW managed to get an update straight from the man himself. The Lincoln director assures fans that the project is still moving forward but that he has altered his concept for how to approach the adaptation. “We found that the film was costing a lot of money," Spielberg explains, "and I found a better way to tell the story more economically but also much more personally. I found the personal way into 'Robopocalypse', and so I just told everybody to go find other jobs, I’m starting on a new script and we’ll have this movie back on its feet soon.” Spielberg goes on to say that the delay will likely be in area of six to eight months. With an originally planned release date of April 25, 2014, we could see Robopocalypse on the big screen as soon as October, 2014. |
Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
The book is just kind of average. I was hoping for a World War Z type of thing, and I think it aspires to that level of awesomeness, but falls way short. In order for it to be a good flick, they would have to change things pretty drastically.

Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
Based on Spielberg's comments, sounds like he's going to pull another War of the Worlds and put the focus on one person in one area, rather than showcase global devastation.
I think the ideas all sound like old hat (Matrix, for one), so I don't really care if this gets made. |
Re: Robopocalypse (2014) D: Spielberg
Looks like he's making Jurassic Park 4.
