The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (S: Carrell, Carrey) - 3/15/12

It's definitely not a perfect movie, but the cast (save Wilde) was super and really sold it to me and I had a great time. The whole theater was laughing and it was a good theater experience. It was much better than I thought it would be, based on the trailers.
Jim isn't in it that much, but he sure is funny as hell when he is. It's a perfect role for him.
Not sure why the critics are hating it so much. It worked for me.

This movie is definitely not screaming: "SEE ME IN THE THEATERS! SEE ME IN THE THEATERS!!!"
If anything, it's a rental, and that's a Redbox rental with a 50 cent promotion code.
Can't imagine anyone blowing 10.00 on this.

I think it's because I hate the character of Michael Scott so much that makes me not have any interest in seeing this movie...ever. Carrell's character in this movie, from what the trailers show, seems to just be Michael Scott as a magician. Granted, I've never seen any of Carrell's other movies, so I'm asking, is he just a one-trick-pony? Is he pretty much the same in everything he's hired for?

You guys aren't the only ones who had a lack of interest of this at the box office. Of course when Steve Carrell is guest starring on Pawn Stars to help promote the film you know the studio doesn't know what to do with it.
"Oz the Great and Powerful" is on its way to a $44 million repeat win and Halle Berry's thriller "The Call" opened a surprise second, but comedy "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" went poof in its box office debut Friday.

I went to it last night and had a good time with it. It definitely isn't a perfect film but I enjoyed it enough. The cast was good and this made me wish that Jim Carrey would come back for another screwball comedy where he's the leading man.
I think Carrell's films have been kind of hit and miss to be honest. I enjoyed him in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone a lot. I like other comedies he's done like The 40 Year Old Virgin, Anchorman, and Get Smart. Crazy, Stupid, Love and Little Miss Sunshine are also good films where he plays a little more lighthearted characters.

Just saw this. I thought it was a fantastic movie. Funniest ending i've seen in a long time. The whole auddience were clapping. Sad that this bombed. Steve Buscemi is on of my favorite actors, but i think he was really miscast as Anton. I think if Will Ferrel or Ben Stiller were in the role of Anton, this movie may have fared better at the box office.

I actually thought Buscemi was one of the best parts - I liked that Anton wasn't a Will Ferrell type. "Did you bring them food and water?" "No, I just brought them magic".

Here's what I wrote on Letterboxd:
Also, but I don't recall seeing so much goddamn DNR on a film since Kick-Ass.
Not the worst comedy of the year, Identity Thief and Movie 43 are currently fighting for that title. With such a great comedic cast at play (like Carrell, Buscemi, Carrey, Arkin, and Mohr), I have to question this: where the fuck did it all go wrong?
This film had four writers, some who actually have talent, and a man who lensed a majority of 30 Rock. Yet, it still sucked. Ignoring all of the character and plot inconsistencies (this gives Texas Chainsaw 3D a run for its money in terms of a timeline that makes absolutely no sense), there's nothing funny about this film... which is a shame considering it's a comedy.
In the film's defense, there is one great moment at the very end of the film. However, you have to sit through 99 minutes worth of shit to get there.

Just watched this. Plenty of laughs. Nothing sensational.
Seeing them handle the "transportation" at the very end was the best joke.
Olivia Wilde is so purdy.
