El Gigante (2014)
Short Film based on Shane McKenzie's novel Muerte Con Carne.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre + Pro Wrestling
At 14-minutes, it doesn't outdo its welcome. This is the film that I wanted Wrestlemanic (2006) to be.

The Field Guide To Evil (2018)
Wildly inconsistent Horror Anthology featuring country-specific stories from some of my favorite Genre Filmmakers.
I enjoyed the segments from Agnieszka Smoczynska, Veronika Franz & Severin Fiala and Can Evrenol.

Family (2019)
While the film has it's moments, they are very few and far between, causing the film to be incredibly flat. Both on the Comedic & Dramatic ends.
Oddly enough, the premise (and promise) of Juggalos within the film's Plot, are the most interesting thing this film has to offer.

Crawl (2019)
Incredibly claustrophobic and a whole lot of fun.
Kaya Scodelario was solid.

The Golem (2019)
While I appreciate the re-imagining of Jewish Folklore, this film ran a bit long for me.
There never quite seems to be any sense of suspense, mostly due to the order of events in the Plot.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) — Not as bad as I feared and the plot in and of itself was fine, as were the performances (outside of accents going in and out depending on the scene), even Sophie Turner was okay, the visual effects were alright and the direction serviceable. However, the biggest problem was the dialogue which ranged from predictable (to the point I could predict lines from time to time) to absolutely atrocious.
Not sure where this ranks amongst the "franchise", though initially I'd say it is above Apocalypse, a movie I didn't care much for but a far cry from First Class and Days of Future Past. 2.75/5

Didn't catch these in the theatre the first time around. The local place was doing flashback cinema and showed each in the trilogy in consecutive weeks.

Altered States (1980)
The transition to the final half of the film is still silly.
Love the visuals and the constant energy throughout.

To Be or Not to Be (1942)
A dramatic comedy in the truest sense. Very funny at times and a very poignant subject matter. Great fun all around. I had seen Mel Brook's remake I think not so long ago but the original is definitely a notch or two above.
During WW2, a polish theater troupe must muster all their acting skills to foil the gestapo's plans to neutralise the resistance in one swift operation. They'll go as war as impersonating the Fuhrer to get one of their own back from the grips of the villains!

Electric Dragon 80000V (2001)
Hyper stylised and almost experimental far out short japanese film about a guy who gets struck by lighting when he is young and grows up and enraged powerful dynamo who must play electric guitar to channel his overflow of energy. One day, another weirdo full of electric powers will challenge him...
Crazy and captivating.

Haunt (2019)
Although it doesn't bring anything new to the table, it's still smarter than similar films released in the past year (ala Blood Fest & Hell Fest).
The production value is fantastic and the film contains quite a few memorable moments.

Netflix - Time Trap. A fun and fairly quick watch (unless, like me you keep pausing the film turning it into a 2+ hour viewing).

Phone Booth - I more or less enjoyed this Schumacher film written by Larry Cohen. I thought Farrell was pretty solid, Radha Mitchell actually gave a good performance, and Forest Whitaker was good. The only aspect I didn't really like was Kiefer Sutherland. I really thought he overdid the voice (I know he was called in at the last minute, as the previous person they had doing the voice didn't work out), and was just trying too hard to be menacing. That said, it's a good length at just under an hour and a half, and for a movie that's almost completely set in a phone booth, it held my attention. Good direction by Schumacher...

Anna (2019) — Decent enough 1980s-era espionage action-thriller that pretty much combines Atomic Blonde, Red Sparrow and Besson's La Femme Nikita. Sasha Luss in the lead was quite good and the fight scenes were well choreographed. The story isn't special but twists were good and it did keep me entertained thanks to a nice supporting cast, especially Helen Mirren. 3.5/5

20000 Leagues Under the Sea (1916)
Some amasing underwater shots for the era (cameraman in a diving bell I read on Wiki) but only remotely based on Jules Verne's book, They set the main plot set on the mysterious island with a love story of a kidnapped 'savage' girl reunited with her father and meeting her true love and Nemo getting revenge and other nonsensical stuff. Worth it for the visuals but not for the story.

The Blob (1958)
Badly directed but appealing story of town's teens (led by Steve McQueen) trying to convince adults and police of an invasion by a space Jell-O that digests people and is rampant in their town. Not the best 50s/60s scifi but certainly a cult curiosity.

The Lower Depths (1957)
Beautiful and touching Akira Kurosawa film based on a play by Russian Maxim Gorky. With Toshiro Mifune, of course! Very theatrical (shot in one location) but the dynamics of the characters make up for it. Intertwining stories of a group of poor people lodging under the same roof in a shady district of a medieval city. Great stuff.
