I missed the sequel but I saw the original and supposedly the final movie in the trilogy

It took me a few years to finally finish watching this movie. I think I started when I first got the Blu-ray, stopped and was finally able to finish it today.
I still find this movie really slow and annoying up to the point where Ralph gets to Sugar Rush land. Then it becomes a better movie. As a gamer, I like the nods to the old games plus love the small trivia and hidden eggs section on the Blu-ray every time you pause it.

The Great Rift (2010) 4.0/5
BBC mini-series covering the natural forces that formed the East African Rift basins and the wildlife that inhabits them. Informative with some exceptional photography.

Missing Link (2019) — Amiable and enjoyable CGI animated (**correction, stop motion**) family adventure-comedy, with a respectable voice cast including Hugh Jackman and Zoe Saldana, that did illicit plenty of laughs from me and just a nice film that unfortunately was in and out of theaters. 3.75/5

It was ok though I lost interest after the first 20 minutes

High Life - 4/5
Claire Denis’ first English language film is a winner that goes into deeper and darker themes of human existence than your typical sci-fi film.

Batman: Hush (2019) — Okay DC animated movie that has its moments, and nice animation, but as a fan of the original graphic novel, was a little disappointed, though not entirely surprised they went the route they did considering how much back story was involved with the source material, so changes had to be made. Still, was entertaining enough but not top tier amongst the DC Animated Universe. 3.0/5

First time watching it. I thought it was good but it didn't blow me away. I think I was expecting too much from it. I liked the characters of Pazu and Sheeta along with Dola and her pirates. The villain just seem very stereotypical. Didn't bring much. I have both the Disney and GKids Blu-ray release as the GKids release restore the original subtitles that are missing from the Disney one.

The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi - The Takeshi Kitano film. It was merely okay for the most part (I really didn't care for the CGI blood and effects), but it had its humorous moments, and the film really picks up towards the end. And the very end, just before the credits roll? Just sublime. Kind of like his movie Sonatine (and others), Kitano really knows how to make truly unique endings that really stick in the viewers' minds afterwards...I also loved the song that rolls over the end credits...

It was awful.
First time I have seen Thora Birch in anything for a long time.

Alice, Sweet Alice (aka Communion) (1976) — Certainly has some disturbing moments but also slow, plodding, story and some really bad acting. I guess I can see why this has developed into a cult classic, but I wasn't all that impressed. At the very least Paula Sheppard wasn't bad as Alice. 3.0/5

Double Indemnity (1944) 4.5/5
Film-noir directed by Billy Wilder. An insurance salesman (Fred MacMurray) conspires with a client's spouse (Barbara Stanwyck) to murder the client and make the death appear an accident to trigger a policy's double indemnity clause. Despite a coroner's accidental death ruling the claim investigator (Edward G. Robinson), the salesman's friend, is convinced the death was not accidental.
Wondered what became of the young actress who portrayed the client's daughter. Apparently 5 years after her strong supporting role in DI Jean Heather suffered severe facial lacerations in an auto accident which ended her budding film career -- but not her marriage which continued for 36 years until her spouse's death.
Double Indemnity (1973) 2.0/5
Second disc included in the Legacy Series DVD. Roughly 30 minutes of the original script was chopped to accommodate the film's commercial TV time slot. Little chemistry between the lead actors and imo the flat lighting eliminated the atmosphere that was an important part of the B&W original.

Not the most comfortable movie to watch
Maybe it would make a nice companion piece to Euphoria

Echo in the Canyon (2018)
Saw this so-so documentary today at my local repertory cinema. The premise is a group of younger musicians (Beck, Jakob Dylan - son of -, Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, etc.) tackle for a show and an album the music that came out of Laurel Canyon - a neighbourhood of L.A. - from 1965-67, where major folk-rock groups lived and emerged. We get various members of The Byrds, Beach Boys, The Mamas and the Papas, Buffalo Springfield, etc. reminiscing about what made that scene great and how it changed rock music forever. But there is too much stuff with the younger ones talking and singing the old farts' stuff and not enough proper archive material. There are much better docs about that era out there. Wasn't bad and it was nice hearing some songs I hadn't heard in decades but left me unfulfilled.

Run Silent, Run Deep (1953)
Another deftly directed film by unsung director Robert Wise. This time about the captain of a submarine out for revenge in the Pacific against the Japs who sunk his previous boat. He'll stop at nothing to get the cruiser that got him even endangering his crew. Mutiny will rear its ugly head...

Watchable summer film, but Marvel should slow the pace down and release better films. The sausage plant has lower quality output recently...

Guibord s’en va en guerre (2015)
Amusing Québec film by Oscar-nominated local director about an Haitian youth who comes to Québec to do an internship with a federal independent deputy from a far north region of Québec. Lots of humour about the Québec-Canada situation and the local politics with nods towards Haiti's disastrous political situation. Not Falardeau's best but enjoyable.

Moon 44 (1990)
Boring early effort by Roland Emmerich. A policeman is sent on a suicide mission to a distant moon where local companies are at war for some valuable ore. Malcolm McDowell plays the villain but has about 5 minutes screen time total.

Avengers: Endgame (2019) — Pretty much have the same opinion when I first saw this in theaters: good movie turned great due to the lead-up over the course of a decade. Not sure which I prefer compared to Infinity War (the ending there didn't have as much impact) though IW had better moments. Still a solid conclusion to the old guard. 4.25/5
