Made it an Oriol Paulo double header tonight.

Watched Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest). That's an odd translation, because Contratiempo means Against Time.

This dude is like the Spanish M. Knight Shyamalan.

Saw Friend Request today.

Thought it was watchable and had some genuinely creepy scenes and jump scare moments. Short movie at just about 90 minutes.

I'd give it 3 stars and maybe a B- even though the ending kind of fell flat.

I watched Female Fight Squad last night on Amazon video.

I watched it mainly because I recently saw Amy Johnston, the lead actress, on another martial arts movie called "Lady Bloodfight", which I thought was awesome.

This movie unfortunately was really really bad. Very low budget. Felt like a really cheap & amateurish production. I was surprised they could even afford Dolph Lundgren.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Made it a documentary kind of day:

Hired Gun is EXCELLENT and really brings to light how much of an asshole Billy Joel was/is. Lots of fantastic interviews and footage.

I watched Sunset Strip, because it was directed by the same dude that directed Hired Gun and there's a trailer in front of HG that caught my eye. Not as consistent as HG is but there are plenty of interviews and stories about the Strip and Hollywood that are entertaining. I've been to the Strip many times for shows, drinks, food, sex, etc., it's a wee-bit nostalgic and I'm a native. It was a good double-header.

The Suspicious Death of a Minor (1975) — Uneven in the tone, and some of the chases go on too long, this was at least passably entertaining if only for Claudio Cassinelli. 3.25/5

Wild. Definitely worthwhile. A woman's life is a mess, so she decides to get her head straightened out by hiking from Mexico to Canada. Based on the autobiography of the same name.

It reminded me of when I went hiking in the Appalachian Mountains with my dad when I was a kid, and how friendly people were when you were a few miles from the road.

The Big Sick...what can i say, i fell in love with this movie. great story, great dialogue, great characters and to know it was somewhat/mostly based on true story makes it so much more potent. this will win something at the Oscars. it has to. best rom-com in many moons.

Good little Crusades' film . Bernthal is a mute and Tom Holland a Novice. I did not even recognize Richard Armitage until I watched the supplements.

The Captive - 2.5/5

A nine year old girl is kidnapped from her father by a ring of pedophiles. Eight years later and feared dead by her devastated parents, the police turn up clues that she may still be alive. More mediocrity by the once great Atom Egoyan.

This is another film, -much like Peter Berg's more serious docu-dramas, -where seeing the photos of the real people during the end credits definitely adds to the experience.

Shin Godzilla - 2/5

Glad I rented this cause I almost fell asleep watching it. Godzilla was maybe in only about over 10 min. in the film the rest was just talking how to stop Godziila. Laser blast was cool but just a big disappointed on the film.

The Cult of Chucky (2017) — Actually good movie with nice balance of horror and comedy akin to the original. 3.5/5

A Prophet - 4.5/5

After being imprisoned in France, an Arab petty criminal discovers a whole world of opportunities by aligning himself with a Corsican crime boss who's gang runs the prison. A very gritty realistic crime/prison film that pulls no punches about doing whatever it takes to survive in a dog eat dog environment.

Design for Living (1933)

Pre-code comedy about a woman who loves two men. They're okay with the situation so long as the other man doesn't have sex with her. That doesn't last long. It ends with all three of them happy.

Body Heat (1981) 5/5. Bought the BD from the record store for 3 bucks - it was worth every penny and then some.
