Wristcutters: A Love Story
An interesting movie. I let it sit on my DVR forever before watching it, because I thought it would be too depressing. But it wasn't at all what I thought it would be. 3.5/5

Gods Of Egypt - Blu Ray: It was a fun way to kill a couple of hours (literally, had no idea it clocked in a little bit over 2 hours).

Usually watch after the fireworks but I have to work in the morning
Hadn't seen this in a while and since they've rebuilt since 1999 when the Aliens blew it up, I figured I'd watch terrorists take a whack at it.

Firstborn (1984)...saw this in the theater, i believe. remember it being one of the first PG-13 movies. this one always resonated with me being a product of divorce. never experienced anything remotely close, but still powerful. great performances by the whole cast. funny seeing Robert Downey Jr. and Sarah Jessica Parker in early roles. really like this one.

Alone With Her - 2/5
A disturbed individual takes his obsession with a woman to the next level when he purchases surveillance equipment in order to watch her every move.
Mediocre indie thriller that had potential if it wasn't so predictable.

Terminator: Genisys (2015) on Amazon Prime. Not nearly as offensive as I expected, although I feel that Reese and both Conners were miscast.

- My Life In Ruins (In HD on cable, forget which channel): Nice light-hearted comedy.
- Blackhat: HBO - About half-way through and enjoying it...still not sure why it earned an R rating, perhaps the last half of the film contains a lot more language and some ultra violence, but so far this could have easily been a PG-13 rated film.

Kinsey
Wish Liam Neeson would go back to doing more drama again and not waste time on all of these Taken knockoffs.
Laura Linney was in almost every movie for a while but has slowed down.

The Shallows (2016) theatrically, which felt much longer than its 86 minute run time. Nice scenery (including Blake Lively), anemic premise, terrible climax.

Naked Lunch...didn't like this one at all, unfortunately. just didn't gel with the surreal nature of it all. too bad too as i love Cronenberg and Weller.

Jaws 2, Jaws 3, and at least a third of the way through Jaws The Revenge - AMC channel
Jaws 2 is actually a pretty solid sequel. Jaws 3 was fun, but those horrible CGI effects...yeesh. Take away some of the obvious CGI and you have a fun movie (also, the practical corpse when they find the chewed up body in the lagoon...the shoulder bone is clearly plastic, maybe it looked a little less plasticky in theaters or in standard def, but in high def it looks ridiculously fake).

Jem And The Holograms - HBO: A bit unfairly maligned, as I was expecting something atrocious given its 1 1/2 star rating. It was a cute and airy film, very safe for young teens to watch.
I never watched the show or read the comic so if it did not hew closely to one or the other maybe that was a contributing factor in why the film failed to attract an audience.

I had an open mind but thought it was boring. It was strange they made fun of superficial pop stars who use autotune and they were probably parodying themselves.
Juliette Lewis was the only thing that kept me a little interested.

Demolition - I actually liked it for the most part, well acted, well edited, generally well directed. It was heavy handed and silly in spots, but it had a not-quite-quirky energy to it that I found enjoyable. While it's more about coming to terms with emotions, I found its outlook on mid-30s life pretty relatable. It reminded me of a more mainstream version of The Station Agent.

Leviathan (1989)...little seen, underrated creature feature. such a blatant rip off of The Thing and Alien, but i love this one. sillier than i remember, but a lot of fun. Shout did a great job with this one.
