The Enforcer. I was in the mood for some old school Dirty Harry.
Prometheus for the second time to see if I liked it better. Maybe a little.

Django - 3/5
Sergio Corbucci spaghetti western about a stranger who arrives in a town dragging a coffin with many skeletons in it. After helping a prostitute he gets himself involved in the middle of a fued between Mexican revolutionaries and American racists. Overall an enjoyable film, even thought the first half was way better than the second. I know Django has it's fans but IMO it is not as good as Corbucci's masterpiece The Great Silence.

All first time viewings:
Angel Heart
The Prestige
Requiem for a Dream
All quality films worthy of a second viewing. I did find Requiem a bit overrated considering it's reputation, but Burstyn's monologue about finding a reason to live may be the best bit of acting I've ever witnessed. Holy shit, what a performance.

North By Northwest- Hitchcock's classic thriller about an advertising executive embroiled in a labyrinthine espionage plot. Sexy, intelligent, suspenseful, incredibly sleek and classy, and brilliant after all these years, with great performances and superbly constructed set pieces. When the Master was at his best, he was truly in a class by himself.
Yes Madam!- Kind of disappointing Hong Kong action flick from the legendary Corey Yuen Kwai. Though bookended with a pair of terrific electrifying set pieces, the film's short running time lags, frequently lapsing into silly slapstick which seems to go on forever in the film's rambling narrative, leading to an ultimately nonsensical conclusion. Great action, but even by HK standards, the schizophrenia of the rest of the film sometimes makes it difficult to get through. Michelle Yeoh Choo-Kheng and Cyntha Rothrock make a great pair, and Yuen is hopefully capable of much better. Considered a classic by many fans though.
Gun for San Sebastian- Unremarkable but decent spaghetti western, novel for actually being shot in Mexico, about an atheist bandit posing as a priest who helps a village battle marauding Indianas. Good performances from a gloriously gruff Anthony Quinn and a malevolent Charles Bronson and some decent (probably second-unit) action sequences, though the plot requires occasional leaps of faith, if you'll pardon the pun. Nice Techniscope cinematography. Nothing spectacular, but a perfectly passable way spend a rainy afternoon as I did.

3 Days to Kill - Unrated / Extended - 3 out of 5
This movie was a rewrite or two away from being a really solid flick. However, it starts with a bang and a great humorous rhythm for the first half before whimpering out into sentimentality. I still recommend it as sort of a background movie - there's a lot of fun stuff in there, it just takes a little work getting to it.
Amber Heard looks phenomenal as usual but is simultaneously a little stilted and underutilized. Costner seems like he had fun with the role, and pulls off unassuming bad ass pretty well. Hailee Steinfeld manages to keep the daughter from being shrill. For anyone that has seen the theatrical, PG-13 version, can you explain what they did for

71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance - 4/5
The third & final film in Michael Haneke's glaciation trilogy shows the disconnect between people and the influence of the media in an industrialized society. An act of violence has been committed in a bank. We then go back 2 months and witness in fragments certain events in the lives of those who were there. Another good one from Haneke.
