TCM Noir Alley - Was ok, didn't really seem like a noir. But wow, Robert Mitchum's son is a dead ringer for him.

Free on Tubi with with ads but still has the MA rating which is good.
Thanks Goonies85 for the recommendation.
One of Sean Baker's earlier films from 2012.
Finally something worthwhile to watch after all the turkeys I saw the last 2 weeks.
I probably would not have known it existed.

Edge of the Axe (1988)
Fairly enjoyable 80s Slasher film with hilarious logic.
Not sure if it was intentional but I appreciate Director José Ramón Larraz splashing in thematic elements normally seen in Giallo films.

Missing (2023)
If you enjoyed Searching (2018), you'll probably enjoy this film.
The overall ride is enjoyable but I didn't find myself caring about any of the characters outside Javier (Joaquim de Almeida)

I watched my new 4K KL disc of Death Wish over the last couple of nights (very late)
Really nice new transfer. It was pretty graphic for it's time. There is a pretty violent home attack and scene of sexual assault. But, it wasn't as brutal as the sexual assault scene in Death Wish 2. That one made me squirm.
But, Bronson was great as badass Paul Kersey. Hard to believe this series spanned 3 decades.

Although the film has less action than the trailer would lead you to believe, it still is solid outing in the Gerard Butler Action Film Archive.

A Man Called Otto (2022)
Although I'm unfamiliar with original source material, the film feels a bit safe and a tonal mess.
Even so, the performances are solid especially from Tom Hanks & Mariana Trevińo.

The Devil Conspiracy (2023)
Satanists use the DNA on the Shroud of Turin to clone Jesus Christ and free Lucifer from his underworld prison.
It's disappointing that much of this film lacks the lunacy of its overall plot.
Director Nathan Frankowski has scenes that fall under that requirement but too often he shows too much restraint, when he should be driving his film into pure camp.

Predators - second time watching this. I originally saw it back when it first hit video 10+ years ago, and I remember not liking it much then, but I'm a fan of the first two movies and the recent "Prey" so I figured I'd give this another go. I enjoyed it more this time, though it's still not great. The premise is good and the cast is mostly great, but the story and execution are ultimately lacking. And I'm not a fan of Adrien Brody and I find his 'tough guy' acting here kind of laughable.

The Wild Rovers Warner Archive Blu-Ray
William Holden, Ryan ONeal. Directed by Blake Edwards 1971
Tired of cow-punching for a living, two Montana cowboys rob a bank and flee but their employer's sons chase after them.
This might seem like an unusual film for Edwards, who is mostly remembered for his lavish Comedies. Its a wide-screen Western with a musical prologue and an intermission. It was massively cut by the studio for its initial release and restored to Edwards version some time later. Ive been flirting with this one for years and finally watched it on blu-ray.
Like most Westerns of the 60s and 70s, its an elegy for the dying Cowboy life-style, but it just isnt as engaging or as powerful as Sam Peckinpahs similarly-themed films of the period. It means well and it has a good supporting cast but the story just meandered too much for me.
War-Gods of the Deep Paramount+
Vincent Price, Tab Hunter. Directed by Jacques Tourneur
In 1903, in Cornwall, a group of locals discover an underwater city, dating back to 1803, that hides a society of smugglers and aquatic creatures.
This was sold as another Vincent Price Poe picture and includes Price reciting a poem of Poes, but its more of a dime-store version of a Disney Live-Action Adventure film. Theres even a eccentric Brit who carries a pet chicken throughout the film.
I've dodged it on blu-ray but I have to say I rather enjoyed revisiting it on streaming the other night.
Pirahna Shout Factory 4K
Directed by Joe Dante
When flesh-eating piranhas are accidentally released into a summer resort's rivers, the guests become their next meal.
This is the original, though its been officially and unofficially been re-made several times. I remember rolling the dice on this low-budget Corman film one Saturday afternoon back in 1978 and found it enormously entertaining. Ive owned it on every format ever since. Shout put together a nice package and it looks good in 4K.

I own this
Surprised it is hard to find the U.S. release or it is out of print.
This makes you feel even more sadder Robin Williams is gone.
I like him more when he does drama compared to his comedy.
Ethan Hawke did not like him initially since he was always making jokes and thought he was not being serious for a movie like this.
