Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I imagine this is a fairly polarizing film. It moves slowly and deliberately, but for me it truly got under my skin to the point where I could not look away.
There are elements of the storyline that seem unclear (and I hope the director commentary may shed some light, though perhaps not).

It is billed as 'horror' though that may be a stretch. What it is, however, is a compelling low-budget title anchored by a remarkable debut performance from Anna Cobb.

Recommended for the adventurous.

Watched it once and probably will not remember one scene after the initial memory of watching it wears off.

It must have been a money grab for Woody?

Money grab for Woody? He was brought in as a last minute replacement for Jason Statham who quit the movie. He's an actor, it's work that was offered to him. Why would he say no?

I own this

It is 22 years old now

I don't understand why the critiics at Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 42% score.

De Niro chews the scenery and he has a sick name Master Chief Billy Sunday

I miss the days when Cuba Gooding Jr. did big inspirational movie like this.

RIP Carl Brashear, Hal Holbrook and Powers Boothe.

But Woody has standards lol?

I guess we forgot they work for money too but I assume he has enough saved and he lives that hippie life where he probably does not care for material things.

Netflix Streaming

It was not LOL in every scene but just enough and a crazy story based on a true person.

Jack Black excelled in the title role and Vanessa Bayer as the dancing bear

Jackie Weaver was great in this and usually when she appears in a movie it is worth watching

the acting or lack thereof and the actors Paul V. got for this are atrocious (Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards, Patrick Muldoon), but yes, pretty good effects and it is a guilty pleasure movie.

Adventures in Babysitting...still a very fun movie and Vincent Philip D'Onofrio (as he's billed in this movie), almost unrecognizable, plays a good Thor. Plus, Elisabeth Shue is damn cute in this.

HDNET Movies

It is not a boxing movie and a drama but if anyone cares it is about a ex con (Sean Bean) who moves in with his sister (Kate Walsh)and dates the Eva Longoria character while working at a pizza ship owned by Tom Arnold.

Epix

I am not a big slasher film fan but it seemed like this had some intelligence in the story.

Epix

I know this is considered a classic and maybe I am a simpleton but I thought it was ok.

I liked the scenes where they were at the conference and the party but the ending when the Gene character was alone I kind of lost interest.

Maybe nice for a one time viewing but would not buy it or watch it 3 or more times

Escape The Field (2022)

I wouldn't have been bothered by how derivative this film was if it was remotely fun.

Watch Cube (1997) instead.

TCM

Maybe it is kind of dated with the comedy and hopefully the themes presented in the movie are not as bad as they were back then.

I liked it the first time but loved it the second time.

Maybe one of Michael Bay's better films and wish he could do something similar to this again.

Unstoppable (2010)

I'm not the world's biggest Tony Scott fan, but of the films of his I have seen, this one has to rank near or at the top for me. (It must be considering it's the only Scott film I've watched twice.) The story is 95% fabrication despite being 'based on true events' but the movie is undeniably entertaining.
