12 Monkeys - one of my all time favorite movies, so I rewatch it every couple of years.

I own this

Not the most exciting blu-ray cover artwork.

A long time since I have seen this and probably the first time in HD.

A long movie so I split it over 2 nights at a hr and 20 minutes each.

It still holds up though it is more of a procedural and not really focusing on murder and bloodshed in every scene

A great cast with Jake Gylenhaal, Downey Jr, Ruffalo, Dermont Mulroney, Anthony Edwards, John Caroll Lynch. Donal Logue, Brian Cox, and Phillip Baker Hall.

Netflix rental

It was not bad though I was confused at the end what really happened in that movie when I thought it was one thing but it was actually something else that happened.

I wish there were unedited pov penetration scenes with Kid Cudi and Britanny Snow that were cut but included in the Blu-ray.

That could be something to wack off too

Apple +

I don't care what people say Ali was great in this and it was a good movie.

Maybe if you view it more as a drama with Scifi elements than a Scifi movie with drama elements you might like it more.

Starz

Maybe a career performance in a rare leading role for Clifton Collins Jr and he is one of my favs but this movie was kind of slow and boring.

Logan…seeing that last gasp of the Wolverine after he injected was really emotional a second time around. Especially, already knowing what is to come. Great way to go out.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Weekend at Bernie's (1989) — My go-to when I just want to sit back and relax, especially with the hot weather where I am. Still a whole lot of fun and the dynamic between Jonathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy was entertaining (and for playing a dead guy, kudos to Terry Kiser, RIP). Shame this is a Fox (Disney) title as this one deserves a special edition from Shout Factory... ***¾/***** (Blu-ray)

HBO

It sucks

Surprised this made so much money with people who do porn who can act better than these people.

The exceptions being Helen Mirren and Theron probably did not care.

The Lost City (2022) — It was... okay. Had some charm and Sandra Bullock shows she still has star power. Not sure I completely bought her and Channing Tatum but they were fine together. Story isn't the best and Daniel Radcliff made for a lame villain but I guess I was entertained for the duration. Not sure if I'd ever really revisit, however. ***/***** (4K Ultra HD)

Just now, The Gray Man - Netflix

Forgot to note that I saw The Sea Beast animated film on Netflix last weekend and it was actually pretty darn good. Worth a watch.

Netflix rental

I still don't get why he is still or such a big movie star when he his acting is mediocre at best and some of the scenes with him talking to the dog and singing are pure cringe.

Alone in the Dark (1982)

I watched my Shout Factory special edition BD the other night. I blind bought this a few months ago. I had never seen it as a kid, but was aware of it as I saw it in the video stores in the horror section. It's one of New Line Cinema's 1st movies.

Pretty dated and tame by today's standards. It's about 3 mental patients (2 of them were Jack Palance and Martin Landau) who escape from a mental hospital during a blackout and go on a killing rampage.

The violence wasn't really scary or gory. There's 1 brief sex scene with some brief nudity. Very tame. I like to watch forgotten movies like this, but I don't think I will be re-visiting this again anytime soon. This just goes into the collection now.

There's a few new interviews on the disc I may check out at some point.

Yeah, I watched that one when the Blu-ray came out and didn't think much about it. Some okay performances but I didn't find it all that entertaining...

Went to the morning matinee yesterday and saw NOPE and I loved it. I enjoyed the twists and the reveal was a great surprise. Great characters and the red herrings were plentiful. Worth seeing again.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014) - I watched the original 1976 movie (based on true events in Texarkana in the 1940s) not long ago so I decided to give this a watch, too. This one takes place in 2013, and it begins with a scene with a bunch of people watching the original movie at a drive-in theater in Texarkana (which is/was apparently a real tradition in the town). The premise this time is a 'copycat' killer who is inspired by the 1976 movie. Many scenes in this movie are deliberately made to mirror specific scenes from the original movie. And though this movie is set in 2013, they go to lengths to evoke a 70s/early 80s aesthetic with people's clothes, houses, and even many of the vehicles. There are some well-known actors (Veronica Cartwright, Anthony Anderson, Gary Cole), some of whom play pretty small parts. Ultimately, I'd say this was just okay. Maybe a worthwhile watch for fans of B movie slasher flicks, but otherwise can be skipped.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

White Elephant (2022) — As these direct-to-video films go, it's not terrible with some okay action and gun fights, an explosion which, while used CGI, didn't look half bad and a good performance from Michael Rooker. That said, and I say this with all due respect given his condition, another emotionless performance by Bruce Willis, a cash grab for John Malkovich who only has maybe 5-minutes of screen time, and bad line reading from Olga Kurylenko. The film also had the hallmarks of a bad production with terrible ADR (mostly with Willis's scenes) and camera in a reflection shot.

I think this was perfectly watchable but also forgettable. **¾/***** (Blu-ray)
