Shithouse...wasn't as good as Cha Cha Real Smooth, but very good and cements that Cooper Raiff is my new favorite writer/director/actor.

Hulu
I was into this in the first 20 minutes but then when she started talking to the kids I lost track and have no idea if this wall a fever dream or writers block or something she imagined while brainstorming for a book.

This was better than those Scream movies

Maybe one of the better or best movies made with a band playing themselves.
I hope this is not viewed like the Poltergeist curse where Hawksins died after this movie was made and the Foo Fighters may no longer exist.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976) - thriller/horror movie loosely based on a string of unsolved serial killings in Texarkana in 1946. I liked it, but it is definitely a product of its time. The tone varies from pretty scary during the murder scenes--it's not especially graphic by today's standards, but you do see attacks and killings taking place on screen and those scenes are appropriately horrific--to practically slap-stick comedy at times. Many of the policemen are portrayed as bumbling idiots which, fair enough, but it could have been done in a less cartoonish way. One of them literally drives his police car into a pond while goofy music plays in the score. On the other hand, the main investigator--an older, legendary Texas Ranger from out of town who is put in charge of the investigation--is probably the best thing about the movie (played by Ben Johnson, whom I recognized by his face when he showed up on screen, but could not have told you his name--turns out he was in a ton of old western movies and tv shows). Dawn "Mary Ann" Wells appears in one memorable scene.
You can easily see the influences that this film has had on later horror/slasher films, so it's worth a watch if you're a fan of the genre. I see that there is a "meta-sequel" that came out in 2014 and shares the same title. I will have to check it out.

Netflix disc rentsl
I thought maybe it might be one of those guilty pleasure movies that Michael Bay usually makes but this was just meh.
This had to be a money grab for Gyllenhaal since he has a good track of picking quality projects?
Maybe it was too hot for me to get any enjoyment out of it and it was way too long at 2hrs and 16 minutes and the closing credits might only occupy a minute of the time and not more which you would assume with all the special effects.

I own this
I suppose they added 24 additional minutes since the standard running time is 90 minutes.
It would be something if they had a cast reunion with almost everybody in the cast (with the exception of Swayze) who became big movie stars or who were the leads in many of the big 80's movies.

Watched The Lovely Bones on Amazon Prime. It’s been on my watchlist for awhile. Interesting movie, might pick up the book.

Hulu
Copley was great in this though it you are expecting to see a lot of murders and bomb explosions you will be disappointed but more of a examination of his state of mind and a lot of sequences with no dialogue and just music playing.
Maybe he was right on certain things if you take out the murders

The Black Phone (2022)
Although I enjoyed the film, it had a surprising lack of tension and real menace from its core villain.

Zero Contact (2022) — Snooze-inducing "thriller" filmed almost entirely via Zoom or Skype. The bulk of this I had a tough time keeping my eyes open as watching bad actors talking nonsensical crap on Zoom was just awful to sit through and it seemed at times I wonder if Anthony Hopkins understood what he was doing. This sucked and a lot of scenes with multiple people all talking at the same time and hard to follow the conversation
