Maybe the Viggo character was a little eccentric but he had some good ideas and thoughts and maybe took it to the extreme though he was this smart enlightened guy but hunted animals for food?

Uday Hussein was a demented prick but this was a entertaining movie and Dominic Cooper was great in both roles.

Against The Ice

Fairly good historical artic adventure. Like Shackleton, it makes you wonder why humans venture into such situations.

Species III (Video 2004)

Species and Species II hold a little warm spot in my heart and in my pants. Up there in the ranks with Wish Master etc. Going into these type of movies does not require much brain power, just popcorn and a bottle of hand lotion (j/k). The 3rd one in this franchise is a clusterfuck of unimaginative proportions. I literally LOL'D watching some scenes (particularly in the ending scene where one alien is doing super high jumps and screaming). First released to the Syfy channel and then to DVD so take it at face value.

My rating:

P.S: The boobs and booty solidified my rating. In Wikipedia, DVD TALK is mentioned honorably in regards to this film.

Eraser: Reborn (2022) — Just another lame direct-to-video film that could've been called anything else as it bears zero resemblance to the 1996 original outside of uttering the words "You've been erased" several times. The acting is pretty wooden with the lead being so milk toast and the plot on the predictable side, plus the action is paint-by-numbers (plenty of ducking and shooting in the finale). I will say the only positive is the pyrotechnics wasn't bad and didn't rely on bad CGI, so there's that. **½/*****

HBO

I thought I would give it a second chance and maybe distracted during the first viewing but this was horrible.

Probably Thomas Horn has to be one of the most annoying actors that ever appeared on film and not a shock he did only one movie.

I was hoping somebody would stuff him in a dumpster in the movie and the Hanks character probably stayed in the towers to avoid seeing his annoying son again.

Amazon Prime

I wanted to love this but it was ok though Cumberbatch is great as usual.

Maybe if you like or love cats this is for you.

Crimes of the Future (2022)

While the film is a return to form for David Cronenberg stylistically, its narrative is cold and underdeveloped.

Enjoyed the performances from Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux & Kristen Stewart.

Also, while the film contains a fair amount of graphic scenes, it isn't nearly as disturbing as early reviews made it out to be.

The Time Machine (2002) — Some interesting and even ambitious aspects but this sci-fi thriller was pretty uneven while the visual effects were also a mixed bag from being fairly impressive for its time (20 years now) to pretty shoddy. On the plus side, Guy Pearce was good in the lead. This one also reminded me when Orlando Jones was in a good amount of movies (18 between 1998-2004). IDK, this is one that did keep me entertained. ***/***** (Blu-ray)

This was crap. I wonder what attracted Oldman to this movie?

Dunkirk - just ok, seemed kind of contrived and not based on real events. Kinda like the Pearl Harbor movie

eXistenZ (1999)

Lighter than your standard Cronenberg faire but still chock full of gooey organic technology.

Enjoyed Jennifer Jason Leigh's performance and the fun FX work.

Crash (1996)

Though there seems to be no empirical data on Symphorophilia, that doesn't make David Cronenberg's adaptation of J.G. Ballard's 1976 novel any less uncomfortable or fascinating.

Men (2022)

Enjoyed the film a bit more as a slab of Folk Horror, than a layered commentary on generational toxic masculinity and misogyny.

Absolutely wonderful performances from Jessie Buckley & Rory Kinnear.

That was a fun movie

Surprised the blu-ray is OOP and only available as a foreign release

Last Night in Soho was good and I bought the 4k last month at Amazon

This was pretty good though I wish I had that Chicago cold weather instead of the miserable hot CA weather while watching it.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I waited 4 years to open it

It was not that bad and probably still better than Jurassic Park 3 but not as good as the Lost World if I had to rank it in the Jurassic canon of movies.
