Love Slaves of the Amazon (1957) — Sleep inducing adventure film has some okay locales before going into the cheap looking sets you expect from films of the 1950s. Acting was alright given the material but story was thin and once we meet the Amazons, it's pretty dull, including a dance routine (mating?) that seemed to last at least 10-minutes. This is one of those the artwork is more interesting than the movie itself. **/***** (Blu-ray)

Jeffrey Donovan in jail the opposite of Law and Order

A decent but not great prison drama though kind of long but I did not think it was bad.

Savage Sisters (1974) — Watchable but kind of bland 1970s action flick featuring 3 cute leading ladies who were mostly unremarkable in terms of screen presence. Parts had okay action but I found stretches that were pretty lackluster, even dull. On the plus side, Sid Haig was having a good old time so he was a lot of fun whenever on screen. **/***** (Blu-ray)

Showtime

A Sydney Lumet production

I think a 1/3 of the Sopranos was in this and Bobby Cannavale if he did the Sopranos but he had no dialogue

Amazon Prime Exclusive

Maybe it is kind of like Black Swan but I did not find that compelling not that I was a Black Swan fan either.

I've seen Top Gun Maverick twice this week. At the early fan screening on Tuesday night and today at AMC in Dolby cinema.

Freaking awesome. See it on the big screen. I know most who post in this thread aren't theater-goers, but this is absolutely worth seeing in the theater.

The Contractor (2022) — Okay as a time-waster and perfectly watchable as Chris Pine, as always, makes for a great lead, but the story is really predictable and the finale, which I think only was 10-minutes, felt really rushed and unsatisfying. It's a mix of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Bourne series and Shooter. Fine as a rental, not sure I'd revisit anytime soon. ***/***** (4K Ultra HD)

The Candy Snatchers (1973) — Odd little exploitation-esque crime-thriller that has its moments though acting is so-so and the mute boy angle was my least favorite. However the ending was starkly and surprisingly dark. Not great but certainly one worth checking out. ***/***** (Blu-ray)

Stunt Rock (1978)
— Interesting mix of stunts and music that has its moments, mostly seeing the stuntwork while the music segments pretty much played the entire song and ran a little long. There's no real plot or character development and might try some people's patience, but will say Grant Page has his charms even if he isn't much of an actor. **/***** (Blu-ray)

Epix

It was ok but kind of long.

A movie I probably would have loved as a kid.

Does Sega stil exist and do they still make Sonic games?

I own this

It was only 90 minutes so I assume it was not the directors cut which is 1 hr and 42 minutes according to Directv but what is in that missing 12 minutes?

I did not think it was horrible and entertaining but how did the bad guys find his home in the middle of nowhere in AZ?

The local art centre showed The Godfather Part II tonight. So many powerful scenes, but also a lot of slogs in the middle. During intermission, I overheard an obvious fan in the lobby sheepishly admit to his friend, "It's too long."

Grand Slam (1967) — Entertaining heist-thriller with fine performances from all involved (would've liked seeing Edgar G. Robinson more but all in all was engrossed with the heist itself and the twist or two. Not sure if it ranks high amongst others in the genre (Ocean's Eleven is the top of my list) but still well worth checking out. ***/***** (Blu-ray)

Epix on demand

Not the best way to remember Liotta though he was barely in this movie

Paul Shrader wrote and directed this WTF

What ever happened to Gretchen Moll?

She was in demand in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's and after Boardwalk Empire you did not see her in a lot of stuff.

She was the only reason to watch this in her 2 piece bikini and the nude scenes she did

HDNET Movies or Epix on demand

A 2013 drama set in Australia

It is not a action movie but a drama with great performances from Joel Edgerton one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood and Tom Wilkinson was great as usual.

The idiots at rotten tomatoes gave it a low audience approval rating but it was a good movie.
