EPIX

It was a Anthony Ramos week

A coming of age drama comedy set in the 80's but makes me feel old since most of the cast did not exist in the 80's

Edward Burns wrote and directed it but the movie was nothing special except for looking at some hot babes.

Amazon Prime

A movie about mental health issues

If Dawn Olivieri walked fully nude in my bedroom I would not act like I was not interested like the Valderamma character

First Blood (1982)

Absolutely love this film.

Even 20-years later, the darker tone (in comparison to the rest of the series) remains incredibly effective.

Bad Company (2002)

It's free to legally watch on YouTube movies. I first saw this in 2002 on a plane ride, but I remembered nothing about it. After all, it was 20 years ago.

It was watchable, but I wouldn't call it a "good" movie by any means. I noticed that it has a 10% on RT and was a rare flop for Jerry Bruckheimer.

Champagne and Bullets a.k.a. GetEven (1993) — That was... something. This is a vanity project from John De Hart who has zero charisma as an actor and no idea how to direct. Among the hilarious bad scenes, there were some long ones that were uncomfortable (to the point I fast forward through them). The acting from everyone else was awful, though Wings Hauser was fun to watch; seemed like he was drunk and/or high during his scenes. On the technical front, the sound design is terrible with some dialogue indiscernible thanks to being drowned out by the cheesy songs. ***/***** (Blu-ray)

Double Indemnity (1944) — Very well done film noir from the 1940s with great performances by Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson along with good photography and direction from Billy Wilder. I've seen this one before but it's been at least 20 years though coincidentally, a scene from this was in a movie I recently watched (another re-watch) in Femme Fatale. ****½/***** (4K UHD)

Amazon Prime

I did not think it was that bad though
Spoiler:
the ending where he gets beat up and left for dead and then walks back to the stadium and hits the game winning HR with a busted up face and black eye was kind of ridiculous.

Godzilla vs Mothra (1964)

What a clusterfuck of astronomical proportions. Godzilla is a f--king lunatic in this flick. Sporting cataracts from old age, and at times his body movements is clear indication of sniffing coke, here he decides to tackle down a cute butterfly (who kicked his ass) and two giant penises, literally.

My rating: ★★★ out of 5

This movie is more enjoyable when smoking weed.

I own this

The only Karate Kid I care for (Never watched Cobra Kai and did not like that Jackie Chan version) though maybe I want to see Part III again even if it might suck.

It is still fun though when he fell off the bike that was not a good stunt and some of the scenes where Macchio overacted.

I know you hate watching TV shows, but you’re missing out passing on Cobra Kai. It’s actually a sequel series to the movies and the episodes are so easy to binge watch. The original cast is in it and the people who made it love the movies, especially the first movie.

Take a week or so break from watching the bad cable movies and watch Cobra Kai. Who am I kidding, you won’t.

Gotcha (1985)

I got this from the recent Kino Lorber sale. Had not seen this since I was 12. But, as a young kid, I recalled liking it and I remembered the brief Linda Fiorentino nudity in it.

I enjoyed watching this again last night after so long. Really fun spy action comedy. It's really dated, but still entertaining. And I'm sure anyone my age back then would have thought an early to mid 20s Linda Fiorentino was hot. Too bad her career completely fizzled out in the 2000s.

Starz

It came out in 2020 but it looks like it was sitting on the shelf since Aaron Paul and Paul Walter Hauser look a lot younger and I think there are Blackberrys and fliphones in the movie?

According to Wikipedia, it was filmed in 2011.

Figures and wonder why they took so long to release it since Jeff Daniels was in it too and though they are not stars anymore Tom Sizemore and Tom Berenger were in it too.

HBO

Matthias Schoenaerts and Colin Firthare in it

A sad story but a by the numbers submarine movie and not really fun to watch.

Léa Seydoux before she broke out in James Bond was in this.
